What's new

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

I think I'd rather have Simmons

I would Rather, but not him either. He had a couple good moments in a playoff series, but he shot under 30% from 3 this year. He is not really a good player either. He's very athletic, but that's about it. Unlike KCP, though I would sign him if it was to a good, shorter contract.

Ugh.. I didn't notice his 3pt% which is bad. It was much better last year with less attempts, but maybe he can figure it out. With Rubio you don't want to have too many guys that you hope can figure it out.

I would offer him the MLE

This. ^^^

Jazz should offer 3 year deals at the MLE level to all of the decent young guys still on the market. If their teams match. . . no big loss. If they sign with the Jazz. . . Great. Put them into the player development program and get them up to speed.

I don't mind KCP.

He's young, he actually is a good shooter, and he's a good defender.

Not sure where he fits for us though, tbh.

Thing about his shooting is that he was almost never open. When it comes to closeness of the defender when shooting, he was in the 19th percentile. That's awful. Partly his fault, mostly bc he plays with a trash PG. I think if they can get him "cheap", he could be a better fit than Hood.

Only way we can free up enough space to go after KCP is if we unload Bukrs onto someone while taking minimal salary back.

His agent is Rich Paul aka Lebron's buddy so I cannot see him taking the MLE. If anything it would be something like 3 years and 36-45 million with a player option on the 3rd year. Supposedly, he is waiting out the Nets/Otto Potter situation. Atlanta might also be a possibility once they buyout Crawford, as he is from the area and played college ball there.

I think he'll sign a JJ Redick-esque fat 1 yr deal then test the market again next year. Pistons offered 5 yr/80mil and KCP's camp said that's not even close.

We don't have cap space. We can only clear up around 11 million. And even if he took that, who are we benching out of Rubio/Hood/Mitchell/Lyles so he can play? I wouldn't want to bench any of those guys. And I'd rather have cap room next summer than KCP now.
Lyles?
