How the Western Conference is Shaping Up

Not sure why people think the Spurs who overachieved last year will be better. They are missing some crucial players and many other players are on the downhill. I expect them to be about 5 wins worse than last year. Still really good but a step back.

Yeah, the Spurs could drop to around 51 or so games. OKC could come in there too. I think the Jazz were expecting to be the 2-seed in the west if they kept Hayward and made another move.

You cant project teams records for the next season from their records in garbage time in the NBA. Post all star records and stats are much less useful than full season record and stats. Portland might be better but I would not be surprised if they were a little worse record wise.

Feel free to do your own projections

Minny will be improved but how much of a jump do people expect? They won 31 games last year. Is Jimmy Butler and aging going to add 20 wins? Maybe but I would guess closer to 15 more.

Memphis is definitely going down.

Team PF Denver might be improved but they still need some roster adjustments before I predict them improving much more than a few games if that. They still need a PG and they swapped Gallo for Millsap who probably declines a bit from last season.

LAC will be worse without their best player. We saw what that team was when we played them in the playoffs. It was all CP3. Those players will not replace him. They will be worse.

Houston could improve but I would be surprised if their regular season record was better. Although they might still add another all-star level player to that roster. I also would not be surprised if they were slightly worse. We shall see how Harden and CP3 pair up. Harden is going to have to play defense for them to improve in my opinion.

I will when the rosters are set.

As of right now I have already stated where I feel the Jazz will be if this is basically their roster and that is right about the same number of wins, 51.

OKC was a 46-win team last year, and they replaced Oladipo with Paul George.

Minny was just short of a .500 team for much of last season, and they added Butler and Teague. Towns and Wiggins also are a year older.

The Clippers added Patrick Beverly, Lou Williams and Gallinari to Blake and DeAndre. If Griffin gets injured, then they drop.

If LMA calms down and Rudy Gay can play, the Spurs will be good again.

The Jazz have Rubio, Hood, Ingles and Rudy. It's not clear who the starting PF will be.
Favors

I think the Jazz will move Favors, as I don't think he'll want to re-sign here. Maybe that changes, but I think he wants to get paid. There wasn't much traction on extension talks last year.

5 OKC
6 Minny
7 LAC

No because he was having the worst possible season he could probably have. If he comes back like the guy we had two years ago, he will get paid at a higher rate. Probably by us.

Broncster putting the Jazz 4th in the West? LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

11 or 12.
If everything goes right---9th seed

In terms of Offense we have the worst squad in the west right now. Or maybe 2nd worst after sacramento.
It's not even possible to be a homer in this bloodbath.

We have to shut Gobert down in March and go full tank mode.
Is there any reason to grind? Only to be 9th or 10th?

He even puts norleans on the list twice. Pretty accurate measure of how the season will be

Got it fixed for ya. Sorry you think we are terrible and will suck next year. I think we have the 4th best player in the West and that will win us a lot of games. But you always are glass half empty person on here and like to complain.

Not a chance we get a higher seed over the wolves. Broncster our team got worse, we didn't get better LOLLLLLLL

I didn't say we got better. I said we will have the same record. We got worse by losing Hayward but we are better at every other position if healthy. A healthy Favor's and Hood along with a healthy starting PG is better than what Hayward brought to our team.

It would be better to add Hayward to that but we didn't. With Hayward and health I think we could have pushed for the 2 seed this year.

You and others are underestimating our roster. We didn't lose our best player. We did lose our second best but hopefully we can get back our old 2nd best player from 2015 Favors along with others. We also are going to see growth from our players. Our staff is excellent at developing players and now that Hayward is gone our development resources are going to other players.

"Being healthy" hasn't been with the Jazz in 3 years. Burks, Hood, and Favors aren't going to magically be back to their old forms cause they rehabbed for 5 months. Burk's body just can't play ball, Favor's looked like a 35+ year old out there, and Hood's ankles are worse than Currys. It just isn't happening sir.

You thinking we're going to be the same as last year is laughable at best

You are probably one of the biggest homers on this board. We WILL NOT have the same record as before. We can't rack in the free wins from the wolves anymore, thunder will spank us even more than last year, we might go 2-2 against the blazers or nuggets. I'm predicting a conference record for the jazz at 6 wins and 10 losses against those teams ONLY IF Gobert is healthy.

Good thing we get to find out. It's laughable to underestimate having an elite player like Gobert and lots of talent around him and thinking that team will suck.

What did you predict our record would be last year? How about what we would do in the playoffs?

We might not be healthy but our bad luck has to end sometime. Favors is very young and can get back to good health if there isn't anything major wrong, which the team is repeatedly saying isn't the case. Hood is already recovered by now. Gobert had a similar injury that slowed Hood 2 years ago and he bounced back just fine.

Sometimes it isn't just luck and the players body just can't handle the game. I really hope that's not the case with them but until they stay healthy for a bit it's been the trend.

Gobert isn't going to score 50 points a game to get us wins sir.

Let's not forget we lost 40+ points in free agency per game and replaced it with 10 so far. Rubio can't shoot, Hood is basically CJ miles with worse health, Injles will probably be about the same, Burks won't play, Gobert might average 17?

Who replaces the scoring from Hill and Hayward? Please, enlighten me

Players missing less games adds points. Hill scored 829 points last season. Ricky Rubio scored 836 points so we already have more points from that position. Rubio also set up a lot more points than Hill did dishing out 682 assists to 204 from Hill The same can be said about other players if healthy. I guess if we have the most injured team in the NBA next year we will probably struggle, that is true of every team in the NBA.

Well Rubio adds more than just the points he scores. He sets up teammates and makes everyone on the court with him better. I also think he will do much better on a winning team with a good system in place. With that said every player who plays with him will score more points than they previously did. Rubio will also have more space to shoot.

Gobert will score more points since he has a PG who can actually pass him the ball now and run a pick and roll.

Again we have one of the best development staffs in the NBA who worked very hard with Hayward and that will be put on other players. Hayward and Gobert both improved a ton. Ingles has improved a ton and I expect him to keep improving. He is a good shooter and with a larger role he will score more. Exum is also improving a ton and will score a lot more points with a larger role and being much improved as we got a glimpse of in Summer league. Hood will obviously improve his scoring. Favors will get back closer to 15 points per game.

We also added more than just Rubio. I guess you forgot we drafted some players. I dont know how much time they will get but they will add some points. If Burks is healthy and running he will add points, if he is not then Mitchell will have a larger role and add more points.

We also have plenty of time to make a trade and/or finish building our roster with some FAs that we will sign. I would say there is a really good chance we trade Diaw for a player.

Additionally our defense will be even better than last year so we dont have to score as much.

We are better next year at every position except SF. Some of those positions like PG we are significantly better at.
