How the Western Conference is Shaping Up

Sometimes it isn't just luck and the players body just can't handle the game. I really hope that's not the case with them but until they stay healthy for a bit it's been the trend.

It might be. I honestly have no idea what is going on with Favors. The staff is very positive about him right now but I feel like they have been hiding something but maybe not, maybe it was just what they said the injuries were and he needed some time to rest. It sucks that Favors started the season injured, its hard to recover during the season.

I really hope he can get back to what he was becoming. I would love nothing more than to see a Gobert/Favors combo reaching their potential

I actually feel bad for Rubio right now. He now left a more promising team this year to one that's going in the wrong direction

Dude was coming off the bench until Lavine was injured. I don't think he felt like he was in their long term plans.

"Being healthy" hasn't been with the Jazz in 3 years. Burks, Hood, and Favors aren't going to magically be back to their old forms cause they rehabbed for 5 months. Burk's body just can't play ball, Favor's looked like a 35+ year old out there, and Hood's ankles are worse than Currys. It just isn't happening sir.

You thinking we're going to be the same as last year is laughable at best
Not sure if hood has even had ankle problems doe.

Who replaces the scoring from Hill and Hayward? Please, enlighten me

Idk. Who replaced their scoring when they were out in the playoffs and we beat the clippers?

Look back at every game over the last few years when hill and Haywood were not on the court and we won and you will find your answer.

Uhhhh. I'm not sure wtf you're talking about? Hill missed 0 Clippers games and TECHNICALLY hayward missed..... 0 Clippers games?

There was 1 game where hayward played 9 minutes and left cause he was sick. That's it lmao

Hayward missed regular season games that we won. Who replaced his scoring?
Who replaced his scoring in that clippers game?

Hill missed lots of games. Who replaced his scoring?

Pretty simple to find the answer to your question. Look at some box scores.

I honestly can't believe the amount of homerism from you and broncster. There is literally no way in absolute hell we will get 4th in the west. We were like 16-4 with HILL AND HAYWARD playing. We lost both of them and you think we'll BARELY take a step back??? We're borderline bad, we'll be REALLY bad if Gobert gets hurt. We're honestly average at best.

When did I say any of this? You asked a question, I answered it.
You are welcome.

I'm not that worried too. Hayward was the best player and option but there were always other players that became the gear and made the team run. I don't believe and never believed Hayward makes a difference in a team by his own.

Jazz started winning when help arrived. It always has been like that for other teams too. Gordon is a great pointforward. But he does not have to be the center piece for Jazz to achieve.

Gobert's presence is so strong he was already number 1 name came to mind about the Jazz during his final years ahead of Gordon.

I'm Tired of being called "pessimist" etc but the only teams worse than utah are the tanking teams. There is nooooo way we're a playoff team. People need to face the reality. In terms of scoring, we might be the worst team in the west and here people act like we're a solid playoff team when we don't even have a power forward to start.
You can't contend for a playoff spot when you're best scorer is Rodney Hood by a huge margin.
We're better than Dallas Lakers Kings and Suns. That's it.

Shutdown Gobert... That's all we got to do to get a top 5 pick.

We're a 35 win team right now. (Assuming we're healthy)
Where does people's hope come from when we gonna compete in a conference with 20+ all star caliber players?

As far as the off season acquisitions in the West:

Houston: Getting PG3 doesn't move the needle for me. Reduces Hardens role with Capella becoming DeAndre while Harden becomes a better version of Reddick. No version of Blake though?? Meh.

Minessota: Adding Butler, Teague and Crawford looks good on paper but the team doesn't make sense to me, all ball dominant, iso players. Think they will find it hard to Gel and Wiggins will need to sacrifice his role significantly. Wait and see...

OKC: If OKC and Westbrook couldn't win with Durant I cant see PG13 changing that and he'll struggle with being #2 on a team.

Denver is the riser for me and I expect the Jazz in the 4-8 range with 6-16 being seperated by 6 games, will be a tight race to make playoffs. Important to start the year well.

Not sure why people think the Spurs who overachieved last year will be better. They are missing some crucial players and many other players are on the downhill. I expect them to be about 5 wins worse than last year. Still really good but a step back.

I've been predicting the Spurs to drop for the last (who knows how many) years.

One of these years I'll be right.

In summary, the best case scenario is "running" for the 8th seed which is the most meaningless thing to do.
This current jazz team is straight up bad with horrible offense.
We need tank mode!

I don't think we are quite done with acquisitions just yet-- I really do ope we can stumble into a formidable 3/4, however.

With that said, I'm hoping that a very focused Derrick Favors has a career year, finally playing with a dope pass-first PG who can run a screen&roll to perfection.

Hood is here all summer with Johnnie Bryant, trying to have that Hayward-bump to his game. Jury will be out on that.

Dante and Mitchell are unproven, Ingles would give us quite a bit just by giving us the production he had in the playoffs on the defensive end.

This team will likely be a less successful team, but I think it will be a more fun one to watch. I'm quite excited to see how far this team can go. I trust the coaching staff.

If the Jazz tank they alienate Gobert. He was all NBA, I don't think the Jazz tank. I think your best case scenario is low. Jazz could be anywhere from 10th to 5th IMO.
