What's new

Jazz sign Thabo Sefolosha

I would like the healthy and in shape version of Monti. But the injuries worry me. This team already has Rodney, Alec and Exum, who are all...well lets just say one of them playing in 80 games next season would be a HUGE suprise.

Last season he had no issues with his back. And for 2-3 mil a year if he can play 10-15 min of the bench that's all I would ask for. Can't be in worse shape than Diaw and he will stretch floor better.

With the new timeout rules, and facing the Jazz's new scrambling defense teams could get gassed trying to play at VSHA.

I'm excited for the new fast-break possibilities.

I was gonna post that too. I feel the same

I don't know what you guys are expecting. FA market is drying up quickly. At the very least, we will be able to put out a line up that is almost impossible to score on. We could have 3 guys on the floor at once who are top 5-ish in steals, with Rudy Gobert and Favors backing them up.

Our defense will be so sick, they should start hospice care.

With improved perimeter defense maybe Rudy wont need to help as much and the Jazz can control the boards better.

According to statistics that I have read we will have a top 6 defender at 3 positions:

Rudy Gobert (top 2 center on defense)
Thabo (points allowed - #5)
Rubio (Dennis Lindsey said he was a top 2 point defender 2 years ago and in the top 7 last year)

Add in Mr. OCHO Donovan (8 steals last night) and we are in full on beast mode on defense.

Regarding offense...

My first question is can Rubio get with our many wings/guards to facilitate a solid offense?

Next, who is going to get and remain healthy between Favors, Hood, Burks, and the rest of the crew?

Who closes?

Next, who can average 20+ points per game next year? If it's no one, can we have 7 guys average +10? Or at least 5 guys averaging +13? Gobert, Favors, Hood, Rubio, Mitchell, Exum, and Ingles?

Only time will tell.

That's not bad. He's a bridge for when we draft a SF in the next season or two. Now all we need to do is address the PF situation and find a stretch who can hit shots and the roster will be depth-set.

We have one, JJ is playing the 4 this year. He will certainly stretch the floor.

Thabo is a better offensive player than he's given credit for. He's been most effective on good teams.

He shot 43.7% from 3 and 88.4% from the FT line on the 11/12 Thunder team that went 47-19
He shot 48.1% from the field, 41.9 from 3 and 82.6% from the line on the 12/13 Thunder team that went 60-22
He shot 50.5% from the field on the 15/16 Hawks team that went 48-34

He's not gonna score a ton. But he can be efficient with a low usage rate. Especially when he's surrounded by talent. Guys like Rubio and Jingles should make things easy for him.

If we are going to run with Rubio, Exum, Mitchell, etc., he's a great signing. This makes Favors more and more expendable if we keep getting small ball players.

So how will AB get any playing time? Just a side note. I think JJ will play exclusively at the four this year... Exum gets backup PG minutes, DM gets backup SG minutes, thabo gets backup SF minutes.

Not that it's a huge concern with his injury history and our inability to stay healthy but just thought when we are at full strength AB will be riding pine.

I don't see Thabo as a small ball 4 type but have not watched Atlanta much.
