What's The Last Movie You’ve Seen?

Boner alert!!!! Holy ****!!!!

This isn't the right thread but IDGAF.

Looks like True Detective season 3 is happening....supposedly NP has been workin with Milch from Deadwood and really kicking *** with the scripts, not rushing them to simply air the show. It also sounds like executives at HBO have shifted around and the right people are in place to simply let these guys write without any deadlines. Right now the dude who won the Oscar from Moonlight is the only name attached. I saw Moonlight and the dude kicked ***.
Cool. I still need to finish season 2.

I haven't seen this series, but I've heard good things. Is it worth my time if I like good TV?

Just got out of Dunkirk. Thoughts can be fleeting, especially for me, and I'm going to try to write up a thoughtful post later on the movie but in short, for me, it was Nolan's worst movie along with TDKR and a complete ****show of a script. 6/10. Had some of the scenes, namely many of the aerial sequences and broad beach landscapes, not been so wonderfully shot, it likely would have been a 5/10 for me.

Don't see it.

Did you watch it on an IMAX screen?

I felt the same way. To be honest, I felt that it was quite boring and slow. Maybe it was just me, but I never felt the tension that a lot people were mentioning. If there were more depictions of the Germans attacking them, it may have been better. I believe that many are jumping on the bandwagon based on hype that the critics are giving it. Just my opinion, but I didn't think that it was that great.

Too bad. I had high hopes given that it had a relatively short run time.

I'm surprised by this.
I bought tickets for my wife and I for tomorrow. Can't wait. Haven't been to the movies in over a year.

You might enjoy it.

I watched it on a Friday night, the theatre was sold out, people sat right up to the front. I booked online and got one of the best seats in the house. There were all sorts of people, teenagers, adults, etc. It's rated R16 here so no kids, but there were lots of highschool kids. People seemed to have enjoyed it. They cheered for the kids in the movies and a few applauses broke out near the end which to me was VERY unusual. Most people even stayed and talked about the movie after the credits rolled, it was actually a pretty nice atmosphere, not one I witness very often.

I should have enjoyed it, but I didn't. Was it funny - hell yes it was VERY funny. Was it scary - in parts yes, but not enough truly scary moments for me though. But mixing the 2, it just wasn't for me. It's like eating a cheesburger flavoured ice cream. It just seemed too strange a combination for me.

I liked the message the movie tried to insert right at the end,
to be young and brave and stand up against the 'adults'
, but it felt a bit 'preachy' for my liking.

Maybe I'm too old and cynical and need to loosen up to enjoy these sorts of flicks now that I'm turning 36 this year, but it just wasn't for me. I wouldn't watch it again.

Good explanation.
I like your hamburger flavored ice cream example.

Having humor in a movie that isnt a comedy is hamburger flavored ice cream?

That's an awful example.

I don't mind it being used sparingly in a horror movie, but there was just too much of it for me in this case. Had it not been a horror movie I would have loved it, some of the jokes were VERY funny.
