I really wish a poster wasn't allowed to start a thread until they had something like 15 rep power.

rep power is really hard to come by these days...

Most people liking and thanking instead of repping.

Mods, if you increased the rep-cap interest in repping would increase as well and allow newer posters a chance to get in on some rep.

I actually agree with LoPo. Favors doesn't fit.
The Jazz have struggled in the 1st quarters of each game to score. At least part of that is they simply need at least one more shooter. Favs has played well in the 2nd unit paired up with Udoh. But Jazz can't afford to pay him $20m to be a 2nd unit big. I'm not saying trade Favs for beans. But this is kind of like Millsap/Jefferson. The Jazz should at least get SOMETHING for him rather than have him walk for nothing.

As an aside, if the Jazz DO keep Favs' cap hold on the books along with Exum and Hood, they have zero dollars for free agents. Do we really think this team, minus Joe Johnson (because Utah would be well into the luxury tax by just keeping Exum, Hood and Favs) would ever contend? No, they won't.

What will make them compete that they can trade Favors for or sign in Free Agency that is realistic? No one.

Favors and Gobert keep proving that when healthy they play well together. Favors was spacing the floor great last night. He was hitting most his open jump shots. Gobert had a bad game but he will bounce back just fine. Goberts bad game had nothing to do with spacing.

There is no player we can get back that will be anywhere close to value for what Favors brings to this team. Favors has been solid this season so far.

Also who is this magical player that can stretch better than Favors and can keep up defensively that we can trade for? People over rate a 3 point shot. Favors stretches the floor with good passing and good jump shooting. He is also our only low post player. We need one of those guys.

Its not like last night our offense was better when JJ came in and he is a stretch 4. Our defense and rebounding suffers with him and if he isnt making his shots he hurts us, like last night.

We dont have money in FA regardless of if we have Favors or not to sign anyone. Trading Favors wont change that fact. We will have the MLE either way.

Favors might be one of our least tradeable players. Obviously Gobert is at the top but Favors isnt too far down the list. He simply wont bring that much back in a trade and we wont get anywhere close to his on court value in return.

Mirotic cant be traded for 3 months after his contract was signed. His salary would match Favors though. But he also has the rights to reject any trade in the first year so he would have to agree to it. He also only has a 2 year deal so he will be a UFA after next season. So he is not a good long term option. If he plays well he will cost a lot. If he doesnt improve a lot then he is worse than Favors and a downgrade for this team.

Portis is very young and has potential although he would be a downgrade for a season or 2. His contract is also way off so they would have to come up with a lot of extra salary. I think the only player that would match his salary to make it work is Robin Lopez, which we dont need or want and his salary would be a burden.

I also dont think Chicago would trade either of those for a Salary dump. They dont need a PF so all they would get is an expiring contract. Which they dont care about since they are tanking. I dont see why they would trade.

Those other teams might listen but what would they give us worth our time? and what would be the contract that we would take back? I have yet to see a decent trade proposal.

Although people really underrate a healthy Favors here. They also underrate that he is a great paring with Gobert and they have always played well together.

Gobert has 4 more years on his contract... that's 4 more years he could get injured... we better trade him now when he still has good value.

I kind of said it Joking because of the punching incedent. Mirotic would be the target and he does have a player option for next year but the Jazz would have his bird right and could go over the cap to re-sign him.

If the Bulls did trade for Favors they would start him at center and bring lopez off the bench. Lopez is almost a wasted spot on offense.

I do not underrate Favors at all as he is one of my favorite players but I just dont like the offensives spacing when he is on the court. One of the reasons that the second unit did so well is that they had better spacing with Udoh and Johnson a better fit.

I think Favors is a current center in the NBA with his playing style and he would have a lot more success playing full time at center but since we have Rudy it is time to move on from Favors. It hurts me to think it

It's a team option.

Have people been watching Favs has been really good. I wouldn't trade him for a late first round pick right now... it'd have to be better than that.

He put the clamps on Andrew Wiggins last night, and he’s almost seven feet tall... Team defense won them the game last night, Gobert just threw the ball away. Favors has looked great

If the jazz are in position to be a #4 or #5 seed, with a chance to win another 1st round series, I think you keep Favors and try to re-sign him. Same with Joe Johnson. Only way I move those guys for picks is if it's looking like the team isn't working out. After what I saw tonight, I don't believe that will be the case if we can stay healthy.

Honestly, right now I think we could even lose Rudy for a while and still remain competitive with Favors and Udoh at center. I've got high hopes of riding the league's best defense and an offense that isn't nearly as bad as people thought it would be.

I would be open to trading Faves if it got us back some better offense and still at least reasonable defense at the 4 so it wasn't such a bad thing when he played alongside Gobert.

We definitely need to keep Joe Johnson until he decides to hang them up. He is a Jazz kind of guy, a great influence on the young guys, and a formidable dude to have in those tough moments, the closest to a go-to guy we have right now. Love him.

I have yet to hear who that player is though. Even if Ryno was on a decent contract, I don't think his 3 point shooting would make up for the loss defensively.

Also, for people who are convinced that Favors can't play next to Rudy because of spacing, I've noticed the last two games that Favors has been standing at the 3 line, and then when he gets the pass, he takes one step in and shoots, and he's been hitting those shots at a decent clip. I hate long 2's, but if he's that more confident shooting there and he's making them, that makes him just as effective spacing wise. That one step in to shoot is negligible, in terms of spacing.

I will concur with this observation.

If he can shoot 45% on those long twos, there is no reason he can`t shoot 3s at 30+%.
