Jazz arent going to pay anything to unload Burks. If they really need to shed some salary, they can always stretch his salary.
 
There just aren't a lot of reasonable ways we get to have meaningful cap space next year without removing AB and Rubio from the books.

I think getting expiring contracts is the way to go... would leave us still in a good position to trade for a team moving a good player on a big contract.

What expiring contracts can we acquire? The list is incredibly small.

We need to use our expirings since we have 2 over $10 million.

Good night. We now just need a miracle from the Bulls in the next game. I can't imagine them beating us but miracles happen every day.

I don't understand. In one post, you say it's a seller's market for teams with expiring contracts, but in this post, you're saying the Jazz - a team lacking high-end (tradable) assets - needs to get expirings for Burks and Rubio? Thus... you think the Jazz should lose assets in order to shed salary so the Jazz can throw max money at an already unathletic but gifted scorer who's suffered TWO ACL tears to the same knee and that will probably be matched? Or are you talking about one of the UFA players that won't be signing here?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding. But I think selling off the Jazz's expirings/Bird rights for assets is the better plan. Especially if those contracts coming back expire in 2019.

Sorry... I can see how you'd think that. I meant getting contracts that expire after next year. So take on 18-19 money and collect assets rather than giving assets to try and have space. I worded it poorly.
 
I didn't think the Jazz would end up tied with the Suns, honestly. Our potential to tank is real. The only thing that amazes me more right now is the Clippers.

Wes Johnson and Austin Rivers starting wings. That's how you tank lmfao. They are a Griffin injury from being the hands down worst team in the NBA.

I was kind of mad Galio didnt want to come to the Jazz, but I'm glad we didnt get him now. Dude is made of glass.

I'm searching through the teams, and its really hard to find a team with adequate contracts that expire in 2019 that also has a 2018 1st rounder.

The more I watch him play, the more I like Julius Randle. The guy is simply a workhorse. I would consider this potentially:

Favors and Burks
for
Randle, Deng, Hart, 2018 Denver 2nd, 2019 Chicago 2nd, Lakers 2020 unprotected 1st.

Even if we ended up 5-6 and a team at 3-4 liked someone available then making the jump to 3 is much more possible.
