Doncic's play has cooled off, I wonder if his efficiency is dropping because his team is injured and opponents can funnel so much into stopping the young kid or if it's just a slump. He still tries to control the game, he's just making more mistakes in the process.
Knox is not far behind Marvin Bagley as a prospect, imo. Knox needs to shoot the ball better, but of course so does Bagley. If Knox starts scoring more consistently, then yes, he's up there. Bagley's obviously a better rebounder and defender.
Well, since Utah only gets decent production out of Favors if he plays the 5, I'd take a poor man's Griffin. But I don't think we have to worry about that. I see Utah drafting ~8-12.Like right now Bagley feels like a poor man's Blake Griffin.
Yeah, but Bagley is pretty good at being a garbage-man, which should be lauded for being such a hyped player. That's the one thing that keeps me optimistic about him, he works hard on the court. Not to argue, but Knox is a few months younger than Bagley. The thing is, Bagley has a size and athleticism advantage at the college level that enables him to score and make plays around the rim. He's not going to have the same advantage against NBA lenth. For any college player who relies on purely physical dominance, they typically have to adjust their game at the next level. See Thomas Robinson, Julius Randle, and Nerlens Noel as examples. Bagley should be better than those guys, but he needs to expand his floor game. Whereas, a guy like Kevin Knox has enough of a skill set to step right in as a big wing or power forward.
I'd still take him in the top 5, but I do think he's a project. He has the athleticism and motor to be great; it'll just take a few years before his skill set is up to speed with what NBA teams want from the 4 spot. Right now he's more of a traditional 4 with the ability to push the beak.Bagley is weird. I expected him to have better touch and better floor game/skill-level... and he is still dominating other potential 5 picks, while being raw. His physical and athletic attributes are off the charts and his motor is very good. He is very coordinated and his balance(proprioception) is good. Something people are sleeping on - the league is moving onto a switching game on D. Bagley will kill smalls. He will absolutely destroy them IMO. He is extremely good at pushing his physical advantages where he has them and he has enough skill to do it vs overmatched players. Now imagine if/when he develops his game a bit... I would love for our development staff to get their hands on him. If Porter/Doncic are not there I wouldn't overthink and I would just draft him...(opinion subject to change if other players catch my eye and/or improve over the season).
