1 trillion dollars added to the national deficit primarily to redistribute income towards the upper class

Large majority of Americans are getting fleeced by this. Can't wait to see all of the pork added, too. We live in strange times. Dumb people are so dumb.

Absolutely. How many stupid *** (white) people from Appalachia and the South eagerly voted for Trump but will now see their taxes increased, entitlements slashed, and healthcare lost? I can't begin to count how many surveys showed how popular the services provided by the ACA was to many Trump voters yet they subsequently would survey how much they hated Obamacare.

It's clear that there is a yewge disconnect between what repub voters think is reality and what truly is reality.

The fact of the matter is that Trump voters think they're sticking it to liberals and helping themselves by supporting this tax cut but the reality is they're really screwing themselves the most.

How bout them coal miners and factories workers? Tired from all of this winning? I bet they all have jobs and great salaries now. Amiright?

The thing that scares me and other colleagues of mine who I typically discuss economics with, is that this happens at perhaps the worst time. Why?

#1 Our economy is already booming right now. There's no need for a tax cut to stimulate growth while enlarging the deficit. In fact, we should be doing the opposite. We should be raising taxes and revenue and paying down the debt.

#2 By increasing the debt right now it significantly hinders our government's ability to react to the next economic crisis. Which, by the way, is overdue, since historically 8 years of strong economic growth is followed by a slowdown or bust. We are overdue.

#3 No one is talking about this, but the retail industry is changing, big time. During a strong economy many of the largest retail stores are either going under or making cuts. As more money goes to online stores, what will those working in brick and mortar stores do?

#4 Trump promised to invest in infrastructure, military, and the wall. So far he's successfully worked to increase defense spending. Infrastructure and walls? Not gonna happen without increasing the deficit EVEN MORE with this tax cut.

Truly, what scares me the most is point 2. We are exacerbating wealth inequality and missing an opportunity to invest in our country RIGHT NOW as our economy is relatively strong. When we see a slowdown, many who could have been better trained and prepared are going to suffer and our government's ability to mediate through stimulus spending will be hindered.

But that's what happens when you elect an *** clown as president. We are getting the type of leadership we deserve.

tax rate are minimums you can always send in more, put your money where your socialist and communist mouth is!

don't just talk the talk, walk the walk!

and if you think only the rich should pay more taxes. it is relative. i know people who live on 80 dollars a month! so maybe you can lead by example and send your income to people in those countries!

don't be a hypocrite. please practice what you preach!

but seems like you preach but want others to practice it

all you tax the rich people sent your money to sierra leone. people their make 0.03 cents per hour, so in a way from their point of view you are the rich! from their point of view their is no difference between you and warren buffet!

you dont have the right to hold somebody accountable for standards you refuse to apply to yourself!

stop hating on it! stop preaching theft! preach for willingly supporting the poor!

your beliefs dont make you a better person your behaviour does. so unless you are redistributing your excessive wealth to siera leone, hiati or other poor people around the world stfu about asking the government to take a gun and point it at people to pay taxes!

even if the government made a tax bill that only the 1% would get a tax cut the rets of the country would pay the same, i would not be mad!

But the senate will surely fix it, right? No way our government would let anything bad happen to the middle class.

If, after net neutrality ends, Comcast and Verizon take it to an extreme that the vast majority of people don't like there will be pressure to change it. And once this administration ends, and the mid-terms swing congress and the senate, there will be people in our government favorable to changing it back.

Very different than "tax cuts" that many people are in favor of.

Now if Comcast isn't stupid they'll try to tow the line as far as how they fleece everyone with their fast lanes and whatever. If they don't overstep they'll probably be able to avoid a backlash.

This is bullcrap. I cant believe he is giving a break to corporations. They should be taxed even higher. Make them pay for everything. Then none of us would have to work. Ugggh, but instead we will probably just get more businesses popping up meaning more crap we have to do.

Im done with this working nonsense. Im going to start my own corporation. Its evil I know, but thats where the money is, and its so easy to do. You dont have to even work. Other people do the work for you.

Lower taxes don't create jobs - never has and it never will. Bush signed two massive tax cuts for the top 1% and corporations. Remember the "job creators" - how many jobs were created under his watch?

Increased demand creates jobs - middle and lower middle class people spending money on goods and services. This tax bill will do just the opposite. No more deductions for state and local taxes, no more deductions for interest on college loans and many other things to stick it to the guys and gals in the middle that all discourage consumption.

While corporations could basically "pay for everything" we live in a global economy and those corporations can leave the U.S.. I'm not saying we need the lowest possible corporate taxes, just that we shouldn't have abnormally high corporate taxes, we need to be comparable to other potential destinations for corporations.

Full disclosure: I am in no means a fan of this bill and have been outspoken against it for basic economic reasons.

What you two say is not necessarily correct. The bill appears to be a huge windfall to everyone except the poor, who will most likely be left even further behind by it. The middle class with children will probably pay much less in taxes. Empty nesters who don't itemize will certainly have lower taxes. Those with 401k's will benefit. States with pension solvency issues will benefit (which means less taxation issues as well). This will all be deficit financed which makes this plan in this economic environment completely ludicrous.

The only silver lining I can see in this bill is that people like me who are going to get a $2000 - $3000 tax break that we don't need might decide to spend that money to hire labor, which increases demand and thus increases labor costs. Or, we might decide to save more to retire a little earlier. If we spend it then inflation will push higher, allowing the Fed to normalize interest rates.

or people like you who disagree with the tax bill can protest the tax bill by sending the money you get to the IRS.

i at least hope all those rich political democrats who voted against the bill will do it! after all if they do not, it was just virtue signaling

They will all overstep, and the lobbyist will line enough pockets to make sure they all avoid any backlash. Look at the bank bail-out. Does anyone really think that a large percentage of politicians did not get rich in those back-room deals?
