What's new

Nikola Mirotic

Exactly so they wanted to dump a contract with Kennard to get Fournier (a better player than Hood who is also cost controlled). That is not the same as a 1st and Kennard for Hood. They want to keep Bradley and paying Bradley and Hood throws them into luxury tax hell.

I see what you are getting at, but Kennard and Jackson combined are less than $20 million next year and Fournier is $17. It's not a big salary dump.

Woj's article said Detroit is in win now mode because that is what Van Gundy is doing. So Detroit makes a salary dump deal to save $3 million and they sacrifice a young player and a guy in Jackson set to come back before the playoffs who averaged 15ppg and 6apg before getting hurt?

I don't know that much about the cap situation under different hypotheticals, but I'd find it hard to believe the FO would put us in a situation where we'd have to cut good guys on really good contracts.
I mean, that's why they signed them to team options.

That $3 million looks a lot better than what could be almost $12, but $3 million is still a decent player. That shouldn't be overlooked. We would be paying $3 million for absolutely nothing instead of a Neto, Udoh or O'Neal.
Uhh, you can still pay those dudes 3 million too.... it doesnt take up a roster spot...

But to your point HH, we could do

Asik, Ajinca and NOLA's 1st for Burks

then

JoeJ and Hood for Kennard, Marjonovic and Detroit's 2018 1st http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ydcuwx79

If they are in win now mode, Detroit should jump on that trade without a doubt. With Burks and Hood, we would have that $25-30 million in 2 contracts. With these two deals here, we would have $25 with Asik, Ajinca, Marjonovic, Kennard plus the 2 first round pick salaries.

Having a team option always gives flexibility, yes, but Thabo has far outplayed his contract. It's hard to imagine that we'd put ourselves in a situation where we desperately need Thabo's 5.25M off the books (less in reality because you've got to pay to replace him).

It's salary neutral and SVG hates Jackson... he would love to have him gone... that last part is speculation, but he is constantly on the trade market.

Okay, so back to Mirotic. I want constructive criticism, but maybe this is the deal that does it:

Bulls get Joe Johnson, Moreland (nonguaranteed throw in) and Detroit's 2018 1st
Pistons get Hood and Favors
Jazz get Mirotic, Marjanovic, and Kennard
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y8pxqhcf

Bulls would waive Johnson so Joe can go play for a contender. They could keep Moreland if they want. Bulls get a 1st rounder for Mirotic without any future salary.

Pistons add two good players for a scrub center, a rookie and a late 1st.

Jazz get our stretch 4 and a rookie shooter.

You might be able to get Kennard or the pick, but both is highway robbery.

I'm going to stand firm in saying Mirotic will not get a 1st round pick unless bad salary is going back.

He has to approve the trade... has little/no incentive to play nice. If he goes to Portland he is not the starter unless they move Aminu to SF and he is option 3 at best behind CJ and Dame who are high usage dudes.

Minnesota, maybe if he like Thibs, but he ain't starting and they are not picking up his option next year.

I think we may be his preferred destination. Bradley and an expiring or 2018 and 2019 2nd round picks plus expirings. I won't offer a first or anything that we could trade for a first.

I get the feeling when Gobert returns and we go on a tear, people are going to be very thankful for Bobby Portis and his fisticuffs.

Espn just sent me a text saying Mirotic likes Snyder and wants to play in Utah.

I’d do Hood for Mirotic straight up. Toss in Favors if needed. Favors isn’t staying here and is gone no matter what.

Hood will be so overpaid this summer. He’s not worth it.

Mirotic fits in perfectly with Gobert and Mitchell.

Playoffs.

Green arises from hiding with a solid post.

A+. Would read again.

It’s a really small sample but MFer is averaging 25/10 per 36 through 17 games, shooting 48.6% from the floor and 46.5% from deep on 101 attempts.

Get this man a jersey and roll him and Rudy into action next week.

Rich man’s Memo.

Sure, but they gave themselves the option to do so if necessary.

hmmmmmmmm, anybody wondering how and why mirotic requested the jazz?

what if the bulls FO told mirotic to specifically request snyder because they are really after something we have?

Nothing has said he has requested Snyder. In fact, nothing has even been reported about Mirotic and Snyder. It said he was intrigued by Utah, then editorial says Snyder maximizes offense. Now, perhaps he does feel that way and/or has made that request, but all we know so far is he’s “intrigued.” Would be curious what that means.

If we go for Mirotic that ends the tank does it not? If they do that wouldn't the smart course be to go all in on the playoffs? Adding Mirotic makes us better offensively and to good to likely make any real head way on the tank I'd think...
