What's new

Nikola Mirotic

*Burks isnt an upgrade and he cost more $$$ than Ajinca*

That is how you feel about the two players in question and you are certainly entitled to your opinion as a big time Burks hater, but maybe the pelicans think Burks>ajinca. It ain’t like ajinca is a stud or something right?

You guys see the tweet from Spencer Checketts?

"Mirotic to the Jazz is real. Not saying it's done, but it's a real possibility. They're talking."

Bah, offer a first round top 20 protected. then top 15, then turns into 2 second rounders. With Mirotic, a healthy Gobert, and a second year Mitchell, that pick two years from now is gonna suck anyway.

The Exum trade talk is silly.
I would be furious if they gave him more than $8 million per year on his next deal (barely more than the cap hold).

The Exum haters should take a look at how Orlando has been operating. Traded away Olidipo 2 years too soon and also didn't pick up the option on Hezonja, who now looks like he might be a decent player. Too many Exum naysayers focusing too much on stats instead of watching his development. I'd rather see the jazz gamble on keeping Exum for 4 more years than lowball him to the point he just takes the QO. That would be a mistake.

I think Wiggins might be available sometime, listening to Locke. Might want to keep our powder dry. Also, Lindsey drafts well and we could grab additional picks / assets for Favors. Im also not opposed to tanking a little bit.

All im saying is it depends on the price. Mirotic is a nice player but he doesnt drastically move the needle or anything.

Playing without Rudy we’ve been pretty exposed. However, playing with Rudy, Rubio and Favors will make us marginally better. I’d say subbing that out for Mirotic moves the needle. I get we’re talking longer term, but I think he’s a perfect building block.

Yeah a stretch 4 would be nice. I think hes pretty good in his role. Hes not someone who exerts his will on the game but hes a nice player. Hopefully we can get him on a good trade and dont undercut any of our other future options.

I think his real value comes not from looking good (which I think he will look good) but by not making others look like dog ****.

No need to give up a 1st (even protected) in a deal for a player who is a free agent after next year, and Bulls know they can't guarantee Mirotic's deal and give him the no trade which diminishes his value. Lots of leverage on both sides of a Jazz/Bulls deal.

Deal 1: Favors/Burks for Mirotic/Payne/Holiday: Bulls get 2 assets that actually have value, lose 8 million of dead weight next year for extra cap space; Jazz absorb the 8 million of dead weight since Burks is a much better asset than Holiday and Payne has no value.

Deal 2: Favors/Bradley for Mirotic: Favors is flippable and Bradley has value as a controllable guy on a rookie deal (the 1st the Bulls say they want); Jazz give the controllable 1st round guy that (hopefully) the Bulls liked when they scouted.

Favors has to be the centerpiece because the roster redundancy would obliterate Favors value if we don't trade him. Exum should not be moved in this deal at all. The Bulls have to accept they will get less than a 1st and Favors, not get Exum, THEN the rest of the pieces fall into place.

Not sure they would do a deal like this, but that's the game of chicken I would play if I was Lindsey.

Yep. The protection on the pick is critical. Instead of a first round pick, it wouldn’t surprise me to see the Jazz trade JJ (expiring contract), Tony Bradley, cash and a 2nd round pick for Mirotic. Jazz get their stretch 4. Bulls buy out JJ (who gets a shot at a contender) and the get a young player (cost controlled) and an asset who actually helps them tank. Jazz keep their upcoming 1st in the deal.

this would be like the jazz trading rubio after his hot streak where he averaged over 17ppg. Thats what the bulls are doing.

looking to sell stock while its high knowing that it will crash down very soon.

Cy was off the Burks hater bandwagon for awhile, but may have jumped back on.
