Following Potential 2018 Draftees

Damn. That sucks. Hope he beats it... One of the good things about being an athlete - they are more likely to get tested regularly and for an illness to get caught early, which gives much better chance for remission.

Awful for that young man. Had several family members that have had Leukemia... it is just brutal.

Another example of why you should enter the NBA draft if you are projected as a first rounder (I'm pretty sure he was at least). Hope dude gets better.

Andrew Jones keeps getting all these little **** injuries, for several years running, and now he's got leukemia...

He's a really good kid too...

This is one of the more upsetting headlines I've had to read in a long time, and I read 10 articles on basketball every day..

How do people feel about potentially pairing Sexton with Donovan in the backcourt?

Sent from my SM-G930P using JazzFanz mobile app

I'm okay with it. I also like Jaylen Hands next to Mitchell. Mitchell can play off the ball and defend most 2s. He has a hard time with Jimmy Butler and Demar DeRozan, but otherwise gets by. Jazz will need to decide if they want to count on Exum or not.

Mitchell can play next to most guards.

Is there a shot Trae Young falls to 7/8? It would be tough but I think we can tank to that range.

Atlanta, Orlando, and Boston (if LA is in top 5) I think would take him outside the top 2. Boston may look big instead.

I think Memphis, Sacramento, and maybe Dallas (they like to play two PGs so maybe not) would pass in the top 6.

I'm more convinced than ever it is tank SZN

No, I don't think there is.

Damn. Then I pray he doesn't go to Boston... I want to root for him at the next level.
Oh, no way Boston drafts him.

I mean, I think his absolute floor is 7. I don't think Boston would draft him. Boston can only pick 2-5 and a big will be available, either JJJ/Ayton/Bagley/Bamba. Hell I could even see Boston going Porter Jr with how much they value big wings who are offensively talented.

Yes.

there's such little separation between the 2-6 spots in the draft right now it's kinda hard to extrapolate anything about which teams are gonna be where...

I'd link Trae Young to Pheonix tho, for sure..

But to answer your initial question; the main reason is Collin Sexton, he's not to be written off as the top PG just yet... This is one of those 'it only takes one team' type of things and that team could be right at the top, so who knows..

I've located a section of this draft that will bear low-hanging fruit. There will be a future All-star SF selected in the 19-40 range. I'ma predict at-least two of the, lets say, 5-8 SF's that get picked in range will be good starters in the league for a long time..

another development just took place thats seemingly adjacent to this also;

The infamous $100,000 man Brian Bowen has now signed with South Carolina... To me, this reeks of him declaring for the 2018 draft...... Or he won't be able to debut til the 2nd semester of next season, and he's already near 20 years old IIRC...

The marketer in me has spotted this move of bringing the kid who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar to go 'turn it around' under the supervision of a noted disciplinarian, Frank Martin, a mile away, and I like it. He will also be a major wildcard in that range and despite his advanced age as a College Freshman, in the 20-40 range of this next draft, he'll be younger than most all of em, many by 2 years...

And I do actually believe, however faint it its, that there's some traces of Klay Thompson to his game..

FWIW -- If Boston were to land MP Jr, I'd bet he'd play almost exclusively PF he's either a legit 6'10 or just a shade beneath it.... It'd be insane, Hayward is easily the least talented of the trio (MP Jr and Tatum)...

The Jazz are talking about Mirotic right? MP JR is in many ways a super rich mans Mirotic...

Thats why I'm telling ya's there's no debate, if Porter Jr is on the board the Jazz will pull the trigger without any hesitation.. and u will hear the organization praise the pick almost more than any other pick they've made initially, because he's that good...

Jaren Jackson Jr is a name that will only continue to gain steam as this thread progresses. He's shooting like 45% from 3 and 83% from the stripe...

I'm pretty sure he's a lock for the top-10, I like him better than Marquese Chriss for example.

Issa Thiam at Rutgers is a legit sleeper.... He's about 6'9", maybe 6'10" and a wing player... Shooting 39% from 3 on decent volume... From Dakar Senegal

Of any player I ever followed that seemed to be 'beyond their years' or an even more apt description would be 'an old soul' Mo Bamba is #1 hands-down, and probably in front of Tim Duncan #2...

I actually wouldn't be surprised whatsoever if he turned out to be one of the greatest of all time.. He's just gonna keep getting better and better and better, like Rudy, and he's way ahead of his pace... I'd bet Rudy is one of his favorite players too..

Now I don't have crazy resources to do all sorts of psych profiling but I follow these stories for years and I am pretty good at reading people, once upon a time i was a deadly poker player. I am a bit of a jerk and pride myself on being 'a man of the millenium' and I think in a way Mo Bamba is a perfect example (along with Karl Anthony Towns) of this new-age NBA man of the millenium type, and I mean obviously I'm joking but Ayton at times seems to be stuck somewhere in the dark ages...

Jazz are going to get the 13th pick and takes Miles Bridges, I can sense it.

I'd be happy with that at 13... either Bridges would be great. I'm worried it is Wendell Carter... only guy in that range I really don't care for.
