Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

I don't think Hill is in play. Not if the reports that he burned bridges during negotiations are correct. Skal, perhaps, but Dudley is ancient. Why would Utah want a 32-yr old who has rapidly declined? Doesn't fit with building around Rudy's window.

I think Fournier and Mirotic both happen...unless Utah trades for a different PF and wing. And with those two additions, Utah would likely make the playoffs, which would make trading the 1st less of an issue. Of course, Chicago could pick up Mirotic's option this summer and then trade him. That would allow Utah to see if they can land a player they really want or are willing to trade the rights to the player they pick.

Watching the Orlando game...I could so enjoy some Fourniercation. But damn, Payton's hair. Check the janitor's closet for the handle to that mop.

I see little chance Fournier happens. He is worse than Hood and he is paid 17 million. If the whole thing is they are worried about paying Hood this year, then why would they want to overpay Fournier? Only way I see Fournier happening is if they give us additional assets on top of him.

Fournier is much more diverse and would be able to impact a bit more if he’s off. I’ve got mixed feelings about him. In any case, I think it’d be quite silly for us to pay a decent penny for a small upgrade at the wing while passing on paying a minimal cost for a massive upgrade at the 4.

He really isnt. He had 23 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist tonight. He had 0 FT attempts. He was terrible on defense. He is clearly less talented than Hood, he just has the luxury of playing on a team where there are more offense creators so he doesnt have to force as much offense as Hood.

And I believe Tony Jones said in a radio interview Jazz had little interest in Fournier (or it might have been an opinion they shouldnt, cant recall exactly)

Listen to all of his interview and Kevin Love's interview. The media is blowing this situation up. It really seems like nothing. Just like politics, we've got a lot of fake news in basketball.

Although I really would love to have Kevin Love on our team.

Yeah, there might be something, but it feels more media driven than anything.

Derrick Favors replied to someone on twitter who asked if the rumors he would 100% not resign with the Jazz.....He said, “Not true at all”

Fournier is significantly better offensive player than Hood. He's a much more efficient scorer on one of the worst teams in the league. .576 to .538 TS% is a pretty large difference. He's also a more willing passer, ball mover, rebounder (both are not great there) The question is if he's worth the contract. The contract is completely fair, but might limit what the Jazz can do a little bit moving forward. I actually think Fournier would be more of a George Hill situation where he plays better in this system. It is made for a player like him more than Rodney. I would be a little bit nervous about him because he also gets dinged up and misses games quite a bit. He's only played in 3 more games than Hood this year.

I don't know, I would be pretty happy with him on the team, but I'm maybe only 60/40 because of the contract/performance and the injury issues.

Fournier has improved every year in the league. He can also play SF. I don't see Hood with the ability to do that defensively. Fournier is also a known salary: $17M for a player who is averaging 18 pts is extremely reasonable. What has/will Hood ask for? Will he want the max? Even at $20M, Hood just isn't worth it with his inconsistency and durability issues.

Rubio/Exum
Mitchell
Fournier/Ingles
Mirotic
Gobert

I think we can hide Rubio a bit more with that lineup. I'd bring Ingles off the bench because he's a reluctant shooter. Teams would DEFINITELY have to worry about Fournier and Mirotic in the corners, Rudy inside. and Mitchell everywhere.

I think watching some Magic games may sway some people differently. NBA.com and Basketball Reference isn't the same.
It's super strange.

I get wanting out of Hood, but to want to do that to get Fournier? It makes no sense.

The only think I don’t understand re: Fournier is why people are so eager to trade two dimes for a quarter but absolutely scoff at trading a nickel for a $0.50 piece.

Just said it wasn’t happening and mentioned his contract... it was on the podcast. Guessing it was more his opinion stated as a fact. His name has been brought up by others.

I think Hood for Evan is a lateral move but the cost is fixed.
