Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

Joe Johnson for Asik and a 1st. Problem solved. I've been talking about this trade (or Favors) for a while. Johnson makes more sense if they need shooting.

It's happened before

Asik's deal is essentially up after next year (only $3 million guaranteed in 19/20) and with the stretch provision it can be stretched easily. It isn't that cancerous to give up a 1st alone to be off it.

If there's someone they're having this offseason they might. Who knows

I was quoting the tweet you quoted saying they Pelicans have been shopping Asik and a 1st, not expecting value. That's what I find hard to believe.
I think by value he means a multi-year contract player. They'd obviously want a really good player on an expiring.

It makes much more sense for them to trade Hill and stretch Asik. I agree in the thinking that dumping Asik is not worth a pick alone.

Favs for Asik and their first? Do it and then hold Chicago hostage if they want the pick.

I bet New Orleans is trying to send Asik AND Ajinca with the 1st for Mirotic. Pelicans would save $17 for next year instead of just Asik's money. Now that deal would be a steal for NOLA.

KC Johnson: Told Pels-Bulls potential Asik-Mirotic deal could involve another player from Pels if it happens. Mirotic’s option hasn’t been picked up yet so he has say for now.

That's what I said earlier. Would make sense from NO side. get more relief and a little more room under the tax this year.

Still have a hard time believing that's all they want. Niko makes sense with the flexibility his contract offers. I'm sure his camp is what is hanging this up.

Agree. I'd keep the pick though. That's a steal.

There was a survey on how many players would be traded by the end of trade deadline from the Jazz on Twitter by I think Dave Smith. I voted for 3 or more. I think Burks, Hood, Favors and some other guy will be traded.

To be honest with you, Jazz could really use a lot more athleticism to complement Donovan Mitchell’s game.

How about this... we send a second to Chicago to help... NO likely sends either Clark or another minimum guy too.

They get a big man and wing on the cheap. Chicago eats more salary but gets a firs and a second... we win at life.

My hope at this point is that:

1 - Somehow we get Niko for JJ or Burks out of this
2 - We don't trade Favors yet and get more value out of trading him to the Cavaliers
