Hornacek fired from Knicks

I can't tell if he is a bad coach, or if he got dealt a couple of bad hands. He is a gym rat who loves the game, maybe he can find a nice college gig and coach there for the next 20 years. Good Luck Jeff.

I agree. He knows the game but he just can't seem to find common language with his players and be a leader. Some people are just better suited to be assistant coaches. We could take him I guess to be a wingman to Snyder?

Well, Igor is due his team in the NBA soon. We may start looking for replacements anyway.

But yeah Hornacek isn't ideal. He won't be an assistant and I doubt he has anything to give to the Jazz.

Yep. I was thinking of this the other day. I'm really hoping we can keep Igor and the staff intact here for another 3 years at least.
 
You've gotten have some pretty thick skin to get in the coaching game. Tough job.

If Ntilikina develops a decent 3pt shot and tightens up his handle, that's a scarily good core. Get defensive minded center and a shooter and it's pretty well rounded.

Buuuuut it's the Knicks.
 
No thanks. There’s zero connection to Quin Snyder. Much rather make a play for Chip Engelland again. Especially since it seems there’s some disfunction in San Antonio right now.
 
I think Igor gets a job... I just hope we can keep Bryant long term. I think he's been key to our development program.

Wouldn't bring in Hornacek as an assistant... not sure guys can function well in that role once they've been a head coach.

Quin will find someone else, but we should promote within imo.
 
Wasnt Horny our shooting coach already and sucked *** at it? All of our shooters got worse under him. I think our coaching staff is great and no reason to change that right now.

I do wish Horny all the best, if he wants to keep coaching I am sure someone will give him an assistant job.

Guys function in that role all the time (Alvin Gentry, Maurice Cheeks, Brian Shaw, Phil Johnson, the list goes on forever). I don't think it's a binary thing, or that a path is unidirectional.

I'd welcome him back if Igor bounces and I think such a thing would make a ton of sense for everybody. Outside of Igor leaving, I don't think it makes sense for Jeff.

That Suns season wasn't an accident, and say what you want about LHM, the guy had an eye for finding people as he had full faith in Hornacek as a coach (and made his statements without any apparent external or ulterior motivation). Dude knows the game, maybe he's just a mediocre head coach and got dealt some ****** situations and achieved how most coaches would given the circumstances.

I also think tradition is cool (a bonus, not a primary motivator).
