Rodney Hood Refuses to Enter Game in Garbage Time

That’s his own damn fault though.

Once Hayward bolted for Boston and we drafted Mitchell, “Plan A” wasn’t to throw our franchise on a rookies back and hope for the best. I think we all remember that not too long ago this front office and coaching staff were looking to Hood to step up and fill the scoring void left by the Hayward/Hill departures. The Jazz were basically begging Hood to be “The Man” and gave him every opportunity to do so. The dude simply doesn’t have what it takes.

I agree

I liked the Rodney Hood who showed up and won fourth quarters for us with incredible shooting. Everyone looks worse in Cleveland. Rodney would probably not be too thrilled about coming back to SLC a second time but if he was I would take him. He would just have a smaller role here. With the right attitude and a little more health and consistency he could be amazing here. If his market value is really low, then why not?

Rodney Hood
@ $22 million/year INSANITY (but that's what he was thinking last year)
@ $18 million/year DESPERATION
@ $15 million/year (Not sure anyone pays this in the current market)
@ $12 million/year Decent Value
@ $8 million/year STEAL!!!

Where does he fall given the last 12 months and given the lack of teams with $$$ to spend? I really don't have a clue.

Isn't there like a 1 year moratorium or something like that that says a team cannot immediately sign a player that they traded away?

Yes, there is: http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q101
  • A team cannot reacquire a player it traded away during the same season (a season for this purpose being defined as starting on the first day of the regular season and ending on the last day of the Finals). If the player was traded between seasons (i.e., from the first day after the Finals to the last day prior to the start of the next regular season), it cannot reacquire the player prior to the end of the next season. If he is waived by his new team, then he cannot re-sign with his original team until the one-year anniversary of the trade, or until the July 1 following the end of his contract, whichever comes first6. However, if a team trades a player's draft rights, it can reacquire the player during the same season.

Hood missed like parts of 2 or 3 games with the nervous indigestion issue. Let's not over blow what that is. A lot of performers get that. I dont think the nerves get to him that badly in a game, but I'm sure the pressure weighs down on him throughout the season.

My theory has always been that the day he scored 30 on Kobe Bryant in the first half of that Laker's blowout he changed. That was his 2nd year, the year everyone got really excited about him. Then he got injured a lot in his 3rd year and eventually got replaced in the starting lineup by Ingles. Judging by his exit interview he was really salty about that. I think that kind of transformed his attitude and he just became an out and out selfish score first type player.

So we could sign him then.

Not that I’m for it.

Lmfao. Now confirmed you are a troll.

The funny thing is that he could possibly get a championship ring this year. In his elderly years, no one would remember his role on the team, and he would always have bragging rights about playing with Lebron during a championship year.

(I don't believe the Cavs will win it all, though)

Donovan did not come into this season expecting to be a primary scorer for any team, let alone a playoff team. He is learning on the fly and one thing he has shown is that he learns quickly and learns deeply. I don't think he wants to be a high volume low efficiency scorer. But he was being asked to put points on the board and to basically just keep creating offense regardless.

I'm guessing the FO and Snyder will work with DM on a game plan, very possibly along with some roster additions, to get him higher quality shots more often next year.

Donovan wasn't sure he'd have an opportunity to take 4 shots a game going into the season...

It’s just as insane every time I see that video. I remember watching it before Donovan was drafted and loved him but didn’t know much about him. Neither he nor us knew just how much he would simply take over the franchise and fanbase like no player in a long time. By the end of summer league it was obvious we had a special kid with a great personality and attitude, by early December it was becoming obvious we had something even more, now we can’t and don’t want to imagine life without him. What an insane change for both sides in a year since that video.

The relationship is over...for good. It’s not happening.

People said that about Corbin in September of 1994 when we traded him for Captain Keefe. You know the rest of the story.

So he’s gonna coach us after Quin leaves... ****

If you think about it, Hood has to have had one of the highest of highs and lowest of lows last year a healthy guy can have in the NBA

i'm guessing he's been under a bunch of pressure at home to secure a big contract. Plus if his missus has had twins she's probably a little unhinged atm .. Don't forget so far he hasn't actually made much money

0% chance this was some calculated move.

For sure... just think maybe he’s being prickly to try and get them to bat make the QO.

Exactly why he should have taken whatever we offered within reason... his agent had to see the nuclear winter coming... I heard Will Barton was offered an extension at/above the MLE... basically the Josh Richardson Norman Powell contract and declined... these guys about to regret that real quick.

How would them not extending the QO help him in any form or shape? He can simply tell them he doesn't want to play for them, instead of trying to ruin his own career.
