What Should Be Worked On?

I know everyone loves Ricky Rubio and the work he did this year. He made himself into a nearly-average offensive player in the league. However, the Jazz have an opportunity to improve overall by bringing in a more versatile two-way guard to pair with Mitchell. Maybe that player starts as a 3rd guard in the rotation and becomes a starter in a year or two. Ricky is a first-class passer and defender, but I think the Jazz are ultimately aiming to have multiple ball handlers and shooters on the floor that are interchangeable. If the Jazz had a guard, say like Kemba Walker, who could share the responsibility of running the offense with Mitchell, so that they're both playing both on and off the ball (similar to the way Harden and CP play together), that would improve the team. Obviously, a serious discussion about Dante Exum's future needs to take place. Until Exum develops more of an offensive game, he seems to be a change-of-pace back-up guard a bit like a Leandro Barbosa.

The Jazz absolutely are looking for a versatile two-way player to play next to Gobert in the frontcourt, but one possible opportunity for them to improve would be to bring in another talented guard who can score from multiple levels--simply because there are more of them out there, whether in the trade market, the draft, or free agency.

Shooting, rebounding, defense, offense, passing, blocking out, setting picks, setting screens, using your head.....because your brains is in it!

Jazz trade Tony Bradley + whatever pick we're at for Denver's 14th

Bradley + #21 might get the Jazz up to #17 or #16, maybe even 15, assuming the team really likes Bradley more than players they're looking at in the teens. Not sure why that team wouldn't just take Mitchell Robinson though. If Robinson is gone, then Robert Williams is a better prospect than Bradley too.

So I think the scenario would have to be that both Robinson and Williams are gone, the team in question really wants a young big, and they like the guard and wing prospects available at #21 as much as the guard and wing prospects available in the teens.

Take another look at some of these plays from AB. Really nice reads and finishes at full speed. Seems if we can spread the floor and get him some space, he could fit in to the regular rotation.

Lets talk about Jae Crowder for a minute...

I like that he can defend 3 or possibly 4 positions out on the floor. He's a good defender, though not really a shut-down defender.

I like that he plays with a lot of energy and works within the system.

However...

He's not much of a rebounder.

He doesn't set great screens.

He's not much of a help defender.

He's not an initiator.

He's an okay finisher, but not a great one.

His shooting is streaky, at best.

I think he's a back-up, and after another team offers Favors more money and more minutes than the Jazz likely will, we're going to need a starter in our front court.

Jae is not an okay finisher. He’s completely God awful.

I think the biggest thing is to work out a better start to the season, especially on the road. It just looked like the Jazz were fatigued after closing out the regular season so strong. Playing "elimination" games for a month helped up the team's moxie, but it wore on the players individually, especially Mitchell. Also, Mitchell needs a regular workout schedule and a nutritionist this summer, hopefully the guy that Kobe used. No more freaking cheesecake factory.

If the Jazz are being serious about a longer playoff run, players will need to curtail their international obligations a bit. They can do more for the Olympics next year.

This is the **** I'm talking about.

Also, that game was so within reach. What a tough loss.

Rudy needs to learn how to not let guards switch to him and stop him in the post. Learn to box out for rebounds and position in the post much better. Work on catching the ball from multiple passing angles, the lob won't always be available.

Donovan needs to be more efficient, force more fouls on the other team, and stop committing fouls when the other team is running(leave those fouls for someone else).

Exum needs to get a move that's not straight at the rim. A floater would be ideal.

Ingles and Rubio just need to keep doing what they've done the 2nd half of the season. I think that is who they are, they could improve in little ways to cut out some turnovers.

Favors (I think and hope he'll be back) He needs to get better at shooting the corner 3.

Jae needs to learn his spots in the offense and needs to learn where his teammates are. I think he shoots sometimes because it's semi open and he's not sure where the offense is supposed to go.

The rest, to me they don't matter much. None of them are going to get much better than they already are. None of them are critical to the performance of the Jazz going forward. And yes I am intentionally including Burks and O'neal in this group.

They have to sort out AB this off season, move him or use him, having 10 million of unused cap space is way too much.

He is still better than Hood in all of these categories
