Following Potential 2018 Draftees

I also like Kyhri Thomas closer to our position. Would be nice if he slipped to us. He could be a decent player.

Sexton is a terrible fit for us...

You dont draft for fit. That is terrible strategy, and recipe for suckville.

You know who else is a terrible fit? Anyone who cant play in the NBA.

You draft best player available. Regardless of who you have or who you are as a team. You look for value. Then work it out later with a trade or something. There are only a couple handful of guys who can play and make it in the NBA out of each draft class. That couple of handfuls turns into only a handful the more the draft class ages. So that means a big chunk of each draft class is a waste of time. Go look back at every draft and see for yourself. The further you get away from the current year, the less players you see that worth even drafting.

Sure, BPA at your draft position. If you're going to dump assets into trading up, it best be for a player you want.

LOL You're confusing "fit" with "position". "Fit" plays a huge part in determining BPA.

Drafting a player who is a poor fit for the team will guarantee that said player will never see the floor. So how much trade value will a player have if he never plays?

Not necessarily. It depends on what it costs you.

Lets say Sexton goes 10th. Lets also say we can move up to there using this years pick and next years top 7 protected pick. Our team projects to be a late first rounder next year. Odds are that both this year and next year we get little to nothing for these picks. Now lets say Sexton becomes a borderline allstar. We could trade him later for a couple 1st rounders. Essentially banking value for a later date instead of getting potentially nothing for those picks.

Im not confusing anything. Good players find a way on the floor. You also might have injuries that accelerate the process.

No thanks. I don't know why you're so convinced this draft is totally devoid of talent in the 20s. It's not.

Quick edit: I'd consider this trade if it was to move up for someone like Mikal Bridges, who could be a great fit with the team. But that's making a trade for a player you want to contribute to your team, not making a speculative investment on value that may or may not ever materialize.

Also: I think moving into the top ten is going to be a lot, lot harder than you think.

Define "fit".

Does your definition include character? Athleticism? Ability to play both ends of the floor on a team that prides it's self on defense? Because those attributes are included in my definition of "fit".

I'm an Alabama fan so I got to watch him often. I like Sexton, but I don't like his downhill style next to Mitchell. He isn't the greatest shooter and needs the ball in his hands to be effective. I just don't think it's a good fit.

It seems Kevin Huerter is no longer scheduled to work out for the Jazz tomorrow. He's actually one of my top choices for the 21st pick so I'm really bummed that he won't be working out. I wonder what happened?

I came to ask opinions on this guy. I don't follow college ball or these threads at all, but highlights show me a shot identical to Korver and he has Houston's range. For those who don't know, Houston shot the deepest 3 pointer on average last season. They are stretching the stretch. I think Huester could do that.

He has good floor vision. He's only 19 and might grow taller some more, and with added muscle and work ethic he could become a Hayward with a knockdown shot.

Where are you getting this from, I can't find anything that says he has withdrawn?

I read it on twitter. Tony Jones said that he decided to skip his workout with the Jazz so he could go back home and talk to his parents before he makes his decision about weather to stay in the draft or go back to school for another season. Tony also said the Jazz like him a lot.
