Following Potential 2018 Draftees

Is Huerter a good defender? His weak frame and short wingspan are defensive concerns, are they not?

Is Trent really that much worse of a defender than Huerter? Or Brown?

Huerter's frame isn't so bad for a 2-3 combo guy. He's a smart defender, saw a stat that he had the best at the rim %'s of any wing in college basketball last season.

Trent is just dumb on D.

Interesting. So for Trent it’s his lack of desire/IQ that holds him back defensively, right?

I’m a superficial draft guy, relying on highlights, stats, and hype. Thus far nobody has caught my eye of “damn I want that guy on the team” more than Donte.

I hear that he won't fall past #21 - that's his floor I say

Where you hearing that?
Watch Grayson Allen then cuz his highlights are way better
I’ll take a peak. What I like about Donte is the fire and tenacity.

Regarding Allen, I’m kinda curious. Why didn’t he come out after his sophomore year? Was averaging like 22 ppg and then decreased the next two years fairly significantly.

He liked college

The jazz seem to trade out of drafts where they dont love a guy. Leads me to think they must have someone targeted this year. This excites me.

His scoring decreased because Duke's teams got way more talented.
Yeah, I don’t really have an opinion on his score decreasing, just that it is interesting that he probably would’ve had high stock back then. I know I certainly would’ve come out at that point.

I feel like people who root for Grayson Allen as our pick are drawing from the same "watch the world burn" troll well that the Trump voters did.

Confident - Jaren Jackson to the Hawks. Bamba is an option but with collins not a 3 point shooter Jackson is an amazing fit and Jackson is a pretty good defender in his own right.

Don't think - Ayton to the Suns. Doncic is the best player hands down in this draft and teams are going to regret passing on him. Don't negate the Kokoksov signing either. A front court of Doncic, booker and Jackson is huge. I also think Ayton isn't all that great defensively.

Traded - Hawks pick 30. they don't need 3 rookies on first round contracts

I think I might be the only one on Jazzfanz who has Ayton #1 on their big board

You realize the last time they traded out they did it the day before, but I do think they like Brown.

He’s my #1 prospect as well.

The thing I like about Trent Jr. is that he can hunt and create shots from just about anywhere. He's not really an iso player per se, but he can make adjustments off the dribble to beat his defender and create space for himself. He's created looks for himself in late-in-clock situations. Whereas, if Huerter gets a defender draped on him, I'm not sure what he can do.

Brown plays decent defense. He gets in a stance and really tries to defend. His length also allows him to trail guys if they get by him. He needs to get quicker though.

I guess the question with Trent Jr. is how well he moves his feet, if he's able to play real defense.

Huerter's issue is strength mostly, I think.

I do remember that. I dunno, i guess its completely subjective, but the vibe i get from Locke and Perrin is the Jazz feel ok at 21.
