FIFA World Cup 2018

@fishonjazz You starting to get into soccer? A good game doesn’t necessarily need to have a lot of scoring if you appreciate and understand the course of the game. The less skilled team normally tries to put up a defensive wall and score on the break. It can be fun to watch the more skilled team pass the ball back and forth to try to open spaces further ahead on the field. The more you watch it the more you like it.

By skilled I mean players that can dribble the ball better and create more for themselves. Some countries just have more of these players because kids play it every day in the street.

Of course sometimes both teams aren’t very skilled and the game sucks, just long inaccurate passes and trying to snag a goal from a loose ball..

They qualified 5th in South America ahead of Chile, have you seen some of the names in that Chile squad?
They did because of the new stupid tiebreaker. Chile beat them in both head to head matches and had more wins in total. Peru qualified on tiebreaker because of goal differential - so stupid. Chile was supposed to be playing in this WC not Peru.

i had assumed it would have gone to head to head record? Chile were bloody good at the confederations cup last year.

That was a long time ago hombre
And that France team was reigning world champs;)... this team is not as good. Denmark's keeper is one of the best in the world and they counter attack can be deadly. But it could be that that last game won't matter for both if Danes and Franks will win their next games... they will rest their best players and will be getting ready for playoffs.

Hubris. Kasper Schmeichel is the lesser son of a greater sire, its Eriksen, Poulsen and Cornelius that i worry about.

Then we can get into tactical schemes: The standard 4-4-2
The more defensive 5-4-1
The more offensive 3-4-3
and other variations

We will play 4-2-3-1 against Denmark i reckon, with Jedi and Mooy playing deep screening the back four and Tom Rogic in the hole, Mooy will play slightly ahead of Jedi looking to link with Rogic and our wingers, I'm not sure who will lead the line, it could be Nabbout or Juric, Juric is better in the air but I don't know if he will be effective against Kjar and Christensen, we might stick with nabbout and look to exploit them with pace on the counter.

Denmark plays 4-3-3 formation and sometimes 3-4-3. Look for a lot of wing attack vs Aussies.

You should worry about Sisto as well.. he did not have a great game today but he is due for one...he was leading assist man in Spanish A league.

I have a question for all of my knowledgable soccer fans out there.....
So i have watched 3 penalty kicks so far this year. One was by rinaldo and he kicked to one side of the goal and the goalie dove the other way and it was a wide open easy goal for rinaldo.
Then i saw messi kick to one side of the goal and the goalie dove to that same side and blocked it.
Then i saw one other dude (cant remember his name) who kicked it way over the goal and the goalie dove to one side of the goal.
On all three attempts the goalie picked a side to dive to and dove that way.... They made the decision of which side to dive to before the ball was kicked. (im assuming because there is no time to react if you wait for the ball to be kicked)
I have seen the same thing happen over and over again in years past.

So, as the kicker, it seems that if you kick to the right you have a nearly 50% chance that the goal will be open (goalie choses to dive to the left) and if you kick to the left you have a nearly 50% chance that the goal will be open (goalie chooses to dive to the right). But why not just kick it nice and easy right down the middle? Seems like that way you have a nearly 100 percent chance that the goal will be open and you dont even need to kick it very hard since the goalie will have already jumped to one side of the goal. In all three penalty kicks i have seen so foar this year kicking it softly straight to the middle of the goal would have been the best decision every time yet no one did it that way. Why is that?

Youll see this tournament... someone hesitate stutter before kicking it right down the middle, the the goalie laid out to one side watching helplessly
