Following Potential 2018 Draftees

In 2004 an artist called Dr. Jazz’s Universal Remedy preformed a song called “Milt Shake.” Is that a sign?

Im a huge Shake Milton fan btw, the way he's been kinda cast aside by some as a mid-2nd rd prospect is not how I see it at all. One of my favorite players I think will outperform his draft position.

Ppl try to marginalize his talents like he's the 2nd coming of Mardy Collins.

So I guess the way the Washington thing COULD happen is:

-Washington wants to really trust the Jazz
-the Jazz could promise to jettison enough cap to absorb Gortat after July 1st
-Washington selects who the Jazz want, then perform the transaction after July 1st (probably also throwing in Bradley or Udoh).

In that scenario, the Jazz keep 21 because the Wizards save a ******** of money.

This performance was epic, hands down one of the best I saw last season, if not the best. You've gotta take into account that Jarrey Foster who would've been a draft pick and player mentioned in this thread tears his ACL in the opening minutes of the game...

I think these are their expirings

Marcin Gortat (13.6mil), Jason Smith (5.5mil), and Jodie Meeks (3.5mil)

Gotta think it's Gortat they want to get rid of lol. Also holy **** at Ian Mahinmi two more years at like 31mil total.

We can still use our TPEs, can't we?

Sure, but they can't be combined to absorb larger salary (in other words, the Jazz could only absorb Jodie Meeks, which I suppose is a consideration).
So do two trades. One to eat Meeks, the second around Burks. If the TPE expires, which Washington would hold until next year, then it simply means the salary is dropped.

Perhaps. It certainly decreases the chances that the Jazz get their '18 1st outright, seems like they'd have to throw in #21.

Sounds like the draft is about to get crazy in terms of trades. Toronto looking to move into the top 10, Charlotte is open to moving #11, Clippers might look to package #12 and #13 to move up, Denver looking to move #14 to shed salary, Washington looking to move #15 to shed salary, Suns are probably open to dealing #16..... The middle of the first round could be wild. I don't expect the Jazz to be involved in any of the movement but it would be great if it led to someone unexpected falling to us.

He had a career-high PER of 11.9 (substantially lower than league-average) last year.

How does the ability to defend 4 positions effect PER?

He is also 22 and is getting better quickly. His role was very small last year and that is the reason for the lower PER which is simply adding up box score stats, not really all that important or a good indicator of what he can be. Him and Mike Scott were the only players to have a positive net rating for the Wizards in the playoffs this year.

He has a lot of upside and would be a great fit here.

shake milton's only weakness is his lack of vertical athleticism - and as a result doesn't finish at the rim very well. he knows how to play. he defends, he can create his own shot, he's one of the best long distance shooters in the draft, he has elite length for a wing, he can make plays, he can pass. definitely one of the more overlooked players in the draft. if folks are comparing him to mardy collins, they are idiots - Collins couldn't shoot and that is one of Milton's greatest strengths.

PER is an efficiency rating. As indicated by "E" and "R".

The Player Efficiency Rating (PER) is a per-minute rating developed by ESPN.com columnist John Hollinger. In John's words, "The PER sums up all a player's positive accomplishments, subtracts the negative accomplishments, and returns a per-minute rating of a player's performance."

His on/off splits are also terrible.

I wanna believe, too. I just don't know that there is much there besides faith he gets better.

Well, we can't get in on the fun with Denver until after the 1st. Otherwise we could have taken Millsap for Burks and do a pick swap with them. That would have been fun...again.

That is whats its name is. I would not say that is what it does. It does not factor in defense at all. "What PER can do, however, is summarize a player's statistical accomplishments in a single number." This is the description Hollinger himself gives. It is simply adding all the box scores numbers together and adjusting for per minute and pace.

And in the case of a player like Oubre a terrible stat to go off to evalute him, since he is a defensive specialist.

They play better defensively when he doesn't play though. They also score better when he doesn't play (-6.2 per 100 possessions).

In the playoffs this year or for the regular season? He greatly improved across the season and his role grew. He especially played much better when Wall was out and he had a chance to do more.
