What's new

Jazz Free Agency Summer of 2018

Yes. Getting a high quality player under contract for several years is worth it. Also, once we are over the cap I think we can use the MLE.

No. You can’t operate below the cap then get the MLE you get a room exception which is 4M

If we did this trade though, wouldn't we be over the cap for the new year? Regardless of if we are below or above, we still can go as high as we want spending on Favors and Exum since we have their Bird Rights correct?

The Pacers aren't going to be spending that much money this summer after all....

Will still have 16-24M to spend depending on what they do with Collison. I think they may waive him.

They are going to target Aaron Gordon but might not have enough to offer him a max deal. But you are right, they do have some money if they decline on Collison and Big Al

Indiana and Dallas now likely out of the Favors bidding.

Atlanta is likely using their space for salary dumps... Even if they signed someone I think they'd go younger Capela, Gordon, Parker. Favs market drying up before the market even opens.

Somebody above the cap will give him $8.6. That would be a bargain.

I'd give him more than that in a second. He likely wouldn't want multiple years at the MLE. Kinda where I came up with my options for him

1/10M
2/30 with TO on second year
or 3/36 front loaded and declining

Great asset at that price. Could even sign him with the understanding that if it isn't working we will find a good home for him... while getting something of course.

The Sixers have Covington, Saric, Luwawu, Korkmaz, Miami's unprotected 2021 pick and their own 1st rounders.

They aren't going to trade Simmons or Embiid.

Those guys you named are pretty cheap right? Do salaries have to match?

One team source says preliminary discussions with San Antonio revealed the Spurs have strong interest in a package involving burgeoning forwards Dario Saric and Robert Covington as well as a future first-round pick. A potential, more serious offer that Philadelphia is weighing internally includes Saric and Covington and the 2021 Miami Heat unprotected first-round pick the Sixers obtained in their draft-night deal with the Phoenix Suns.

That's a pretty strong offer. If Philly does that trade, they still have to shed Bayless and Fultz to afford LeBron.

SA would want at least Fultz added to the deal.

I mean think about it, if LA was willing to give up Ingram, Kuzma, Ball and a future 1st, then Sixers would have to match it with at least Saric, Fultz, and a better future 1st as well. (not sure why SA would want Covington).

This is exactly the situation I foresaw, SA trying to play off offers from LA off of an Eastern Conference team.

I still don't see SA trading Kawhi to the Lakers and bring LeBron to the West.

Wolves gave QO to Bjelica... Was kind of assumed they would, but you never know.

I still think he is a great target. Would come after him with a 2 year deal at MLE... team option on second year and see if Minny squirms.

Spurs might take a lesser package to avoid trading kahwi to a western conference team doe.

So the summer recap so far....the Big dogs opt out while everyone else opts in. Any word on Enes Kanter? I assume he opts in and plans to be traded.

Yeah but that doesn't prevent them from 'pretending' to be interested in the Lakers offer to get a better offer from the Sixers or the Celtics.

It's all part of the tactics they would use to get the best deal possible and not trade him to the West.

I feel like we've had this conversation before....

Yeah I still think he's our next best target (PG13 being the best).

He's just a perfect fit for our team. We can hide him defensively next to Gobert too. Offensively he's gonna create so much room for Mitchell.

He's also European and has played with Rubio. I mean there isn't a better fit.
