Roster Addition Wish List

If we land Otto Porter, how does that affect the starting lineup, or does OP start at the 4?

I honestly think he's a step below, especially considering he's bit redundant to Mitchell.
I don’t see redundancy. I think they would fit great together. But I do think me and you don’t see Mitchell the same way in that kind of role. But I believe. And a 25 PPG deadeye to share the backcourt with him sounds like the perfect catalyst for Mitchell at the 1.

He sort of would be, but I think it's everything outside of that that pays off... the spacing and the additional defensive pressure off both of them.

The team that should be all over OP Jr. is the Kangzzz

They could do an interesting deal that might get Washington out of luxury tax this year... or damn close to it. Send Giles or Jackson with expiring salary... not like any good free agent with other options will ever sign there.

Well here is the deal... Favs can't be traded until january... OP makes a lot of money... if we did a deal pre-january Ricky almost certainly is part of the deal for salary matching.

So now you have Rudy, DM, Ingles as starters... the other two OP and Favs? Do you go Exum and move Favs to the bench?

As mentioned before... I'd try to get Satoransky too. I think he works well next to DM.

Rubio _ Mitchell
Mitchell _ Beal
Ingles > Ingles
Porter _ Crowder
Gobert _ Gobert

Depth _ Less depth

Even though Beal is a good shooter, he's never been a great shooter. He's probably overrated defensively. Trading for him means we can't sign anyone, and that means we still have a giant hole at the long-term 4 position. We also have to really drain our depth to trade for him compared to Porter (speculation).

Just let Mitchell be Allen Iverson please.

OP will cost more than just expirings... unless the Kings are stupid... which they are, but they have momentary glimpses of intelligence.

They could do Koufos/Shump and one of Skal/Giles/Jackson for OP Jr. and Jason Smith. Koufus and Shump would be rotation players... they'd get a young guy... and they'd be almost out of the tax. Saves like $8M in salary this year and like 15-16M in luxury tax... so $20M+ in savings plus will free up the space for next year.

I don't know if OP is young enough to satisfy Vlade and Vivek... they'd prolly prefer Buddy/Bojan to start at the wing with Fox and are already irked that Joeger isn't starting Bagley at the 4.

Uhh, Skal/Giles/Jackson/Koufus/Shump are all dumpster juice. Well, maybe not Giles, but the others are dumpster juice. I dont think Vlade wants to trade Giles. Supposedly he is mad at Joeger for not playing Giles and Bagley enough.

Plus Porter has a little bit of control over where he goes with his trade kicker. If they want vets, Utah has better expiring vets.

When it comes down it, I actually think the Wizards will hold on to Porter and try him with their new nucleus and trade Beal or Wall. Beal & Wall seem to have a lot more trade value given Otto Porter's contract. I don't think it's worth it for the Wizards to trade him. He's worth more to them just keeping him because teams aren't going to give up much to get Porter with that contract.

I'm in for the fit and more realistic opportunity of Porter.

Would love to at least hear some kind of report that we are kicking the tires on these guys. Jazz don't leak stuff though, and idk if silence means there is nothing to leak, or they are just being their secretive selves. but I know what my instinct would be...

I think Washington is willing to write the year off... that's kind of what they are signaling if they are willing to put Wall and Beal out there. So saving $20M (depending on if OP will waive the trade kicker) and getting rotation guys... Koufos would start for them (they are a **** rebounding team and he's a good rebounder) and Shump has been good this year. They get a young player to say they didn't just dump him for expirings.

If we could put Favs on the table now I think we'd have better offer. I don't think they'd have a lot of interest in keeping Ricky.

If we get Porter, the starter issues with Rubio arent as glaring since OP can shoot. Also, we keep Favors so that means he can beast the 2nd unit with Crowder.

Starters:
Rubio, DM, Ingles, OP and Gobert
2nd Unit:
Exum, O'Neale, Crowder, Favors

Grayson, Niang, Neto fight for that 5th spot in the 2nd unit.

So what are you saying the Jazz trade is to get Porter?
Alec Burks, Thabo Sefolosha, Tony Bradley, Ekpe Udoh, 2019 1st?

@Roy_McAvoy I would say multiple 2nd rounders in my first offer. I like Porter but he is a bad value. I think Washington looks to shed the contract. We have a lot of expirings when a lot of teams dont.

Jazz arent going to trade Ricky if they are getting Porter.

So they do the 4 for 1 trade then or wait until January when Favs can be traded? Hope Washington doesn't get a better offer in between now and Jan 15th? Put Crowder in the deal?
