What's new

Lindsey is a far more wasteful GM than ppl want to admit. It's time for a change.

Utah will not make the playoffs this year. Don't get your hopes up, this roster is insufficient and under-equipped for the job. I don't mean to talk ****, or get ya riled, as we know myposts have that affect normally. I'm just stating plain old fact. The eye test speaks volumes. This team is mismatched and they look broken, if you're not trying to get back on defense vs the Kings, ur basically surrendering....

I have long-said Lindsey operates like he's unaware of the nature of the threat the Warriors pose, I see a team chasing moral victories, not one with it's eye on the prize... Thats why I quit being a Jazzfan in 2017, in the same way I quit being a Knicks fan in 2010 cuz the team is hopeless and needs to be gutted, this isn't fun basketball anymore, it's a contrived struggle, and clearly the FO is way too invested so the process is gonna be like ripping off a bandaid really slow instead of instantly.

Paying up to try win-now moves will only force their foot further down their mouths. Why the **** did they draft a 23 year old though?

Could Utah really afford to let players like Millsap and Hayward walk? I always said no to me here in 2018-2019 we're starting to see the proof...

This roster absolutely sucks, it's weird too because some of these guys are in their 20's and look ready to be put out to pasture.. This is like a ****** eastern conference team roster..

While teams like Sacramento were improving by leaps and bounds Utah was flat-footed.

Sacrifices were made in order to keep weak *** playoff dreams alive, the appeasement of Hayward still reverberates thru this team.... If I was a GM I'd sacrifice nothign long-term for the short-term. **** the fans, they know they want a championship but don't have a clue how to get there.....

This Grayson Allen pick is just like OMG, I'm Bruno Caboclo levels of shocked with that pick to this day... OVER ANTHONY SIMMONS or MITCHELL ROBINSON LOLOLOLOLOL.... they took a 23 year old and don't play him?! Allonzo Trier on the Knicks is an undrafted SG he's younger and looks way better than Grayson and I think he scored mroe last night than Graysons entire szn..

One more thing, whoever said it was cool for Favors to get so fat is an idiot too and thats one of our Execs. Favors still stronger than a vast majority of every matchup he;ll face if he was a lean 250lbs, instead he's gotten back marginal strength gains while sacrificing explosiveness.

If we're being honest looking at over.under win totals, the under on utah's total is absolutely one of the best bets in the leauge, it'll cover before the ASB.

I don't mean to talk **** or kick ya when you're down but it's time to have these discussions, long overdue.

I have said for many seasons that the weaklink between Lindsey and Snyder is Lindsey and it's not even close, still feel this way.

This won't happen though, Lindsey will linger here and this NBA purgatory period will continue indefinitely.

I agree with some of what you've said however, the whole team is on expirings so I don't feel it's as bad long term as you do. I agree with the questionable selling out though. Selling out to appease Hayward, and this year, selling out for a western conf finals run based on winning games post all star games (picking grayson to help this year) I do feel quin bears some of the blame, these guys can't shoot so forcing warriors type of shooting threes is a recipe for losing

Lindsey built the Jazz to give the Warriors fits, when the Jazz were running on all cylinders. Slow pace, funnel offenses into Rudy, blender offense to get open shots.

Lindsey neglected to get scorers.

Now we can't score, and Lindsey also didn't get athlete's to run a higher pace or take the defensive burden off of Rudy.

He left this team flat footed in an evolving league. Lindsey is a dinosaur.

well I mean as great as Donovan Mitchell is, it's not like he's prime D-Wade in the playoffs, and it'd be silly to build the team like he is.. This team can't possibly think that Mitchell is gonna lead them past all these teams who shoot lights out, playing mid-2000's D-Wade ball. He doesn't draw FT's like that, not even close.

I feel the 1, 2 and 4 year outlooks for Utah are grim. and the 4 year outlook could involve rudy signing somewhere else in the summer of 2021. He's got a great attitude and loves this place, but a few seasons getting his asswhooped might change that.

The landscape changes very fast, faster than people realize (WANT PROOF? THE KINGS WERE 9½ pt dogs vs Utah.......) Lindsey got caught without a seat in this seasons game of musical chairs because of poor vision.. Grounds for firing.

I'm sorry but building a team to give the warriors fits, that has like a 0.000007% chance of actually fighting their way far enough thru the playoffs to face them is completely foolish. It's a joke, and as someone who considered themselves a hardcore jazz fan for years I felt like my intelligence was being insulted.

DL didn't have a great year, but did no long term damage. The best move for him was the no move on Ricky Rubio's contract. Everyone here was was talking a 15-20m a year extension for 3-4 years based on how he closed out the season. DL wasn't sold on him yet. Or maybe Rubio wanted more, and DL just got incredibly lucky. There is no long term damaging contracts at all.

I don't disagree, but Lindsey did luck out in the Rudy project. He quickly became a guy guy who we could build a grind it out system around. Lindsey did, rested on his laurels and now we virtually depleted of scores and athlete's who can play in a system. Lindsey went left, the rest of the league went right.

No damage?!?!? Wait a second. If Utah fizzles out this year and finished 10th in the west, that will reflect quite poorly on incoming free agents... Thats really just the tip of the iceberg..

In the NBA if your not getting better, you're getting worse, it's very true not just some bs announcers throw around.

10th place is sounding unrealistic at this point. :D

He's got 2 feathers in his cap, Rudy and Mitchell, and has pretty much woefully missed on everything else.. I'm not impressed. I don't even think Mitchell is as good as some of y'all have been led to believe..... I actually showed up here during last season while Mitchell hysteria was starting to build and said "I'd still take De'Aaron Fox over him"

Plus to me the worst thing they did is appease Hayward. The writing was ABSO-****ING-LUTELY on the wall that he was gone... I could bump the threads where I said this long ago and got 100 angry responses, but it's true.

I remember when I was watching the Utah at Philly game in Haywards last year, I was watching the 76ers broadcast and they interviewed Hayward's dad IIRC and the next day I made a thread outlining why I thought that as long as his dad was cool with him leaving utah, he wouldn't think twice about it......

We're not getting a top 10 free agent to come here regardless. And after that, money trumps all. Your boy Harrison Barnes went to a putrid Dallas team over a guaranteed chip in GS.

Yeah I actually wouldn't be surprised if Utah finishes with the 2nd worst record in the west.. Now injuries will surely change things but when I look at the standings today I think;

Utah can pass the Mavs, but the Wolves, the Pelicans, the Spurs, and yes the Kings all seem better to me

c'mon now, this is some ********. Lets be real here. People were unanimously CONVINCED here that Harrison Barnes contract would be an albatross, and clearly its not and has never been for the Mavs. The # doesn't even look that big compared to the recent contracts..

Everyone was so busy trying to drum up "Hayward is worth the max" that they looked at a solid *** player like Barnes and projected their UNWARRANTED FEARS upon him.
Thats how it happened, even the ****ing biggest moron in those threads @Wes Mantooth know this.

They signed Boris Diaw and Joe Johnson for the same $$$$$... Totally not what they needed, they needed to be CONSTANTLY SNOWBALLING ASSETS EVERYWHERE, EVERY ROSTER SPOT THEY COULD...

You're high. We are in a shooting slump.

This is an excellent post. I think DL is a step behind most other GMs... he lucked out with Rudy and Mitchell. Literally every other draft pick has sucked. This team is built for the mid 2000s...

And I get it, SLC isn’t a destination FA market. The Jazz have to be creative about improving its roster. But why put all your eggs in the basket for Hayward when you JUST saw what happened with Dwight or other small market FAs when you could get a return like Indiana did. Anyway... the jazz still have nice expiring assets, however I’m not hopeful with DL leading the charge.

This guy waived Derrick Rose.....

DERRICK ROSE IS SHOOTING 48% from 3 this season..

****drops the mic****

( used to always suggest taking a flier on FORMER MVP Derrick Rose here, and people always HATED it...)

I think the biggest mistake has been taking trey Burke over Rudy or giannis. At this point it's difficult to know what we have in DL. With some hits and some misses. He'll have a boat load of money to play with this off season, and a fan base potentially ready for change.

That really can't be stressed enough. No GM can entirely draft a championship roster - no one is that good. The fact DL won 48 and 51 games back to back on a totally hand drafted, home grown roster, with not one star FA signing, is a great accomplishment.
