What's new

this team might just suck.

You do know how much Brook Lopez, Nik Stauskas, Shabazz Napier and Noah Vonleh are getting paid this year, right?
So you think we didnt sign Brook Lopez or Noah Vonleh (who has been trash until this year, so again with hindsight) because we kept our 3rd string PG?

The only player on that list that the Jazz would have signed in lieu of Neto is Napier. Are you really going to bitch and moan about not having a guy shooting 36% from the floor on the team? You know Neto is having a better year, right? You're honestly bitching about the 3rd string PG?

Can you read? You deflected after I proved your clown shoes moaning about keeping Derrick Rose on how the bench sucks. The bench doesnt suck. The issue isnt the bench. Small moves for better scoring role players isnt going to make a huge difference, which is why DL didnt do it and stayed with the defensive identity. He's going to chase the big 2nd scorer in free agency with max cap-space.

And we don't need players now. The players we currently have are capable of winning at a high level. It starts with defense and then just being average offensively. This roster is capable of that and tonight was a step in the right direction because it showed they can still clamp down defensively at a high level.
U asking me if I can read a 89-96 loss to a Magic team that isn't very good into "a step in the right direction"? then no. I don't think I could read at your level.

Losing is trending the right direction?
Have you watched the Jazz before the ten games or nah? Because if you had, which I doubt you did, then you would have noticed there was a big slip in defensive efficiency to start the season. Am I being weird for being positive because our defense has been trending towards elite in the past ten games?

Again, you're trying hard to be stupid.

Well, financially speaking yes. Neto is getting paid more than those guys. And all these guys can play quality minutes, and Neto can't. He's looked like "he had been done" and missed over half of the games so far due to injuries. Yet he's getting 11 mpg when he does play simply because Quin ran out of players to give the minutes to, not because he's good or anything.

I have watched every ****ing game from start to finish. Yes, defensive intensity has improved, this I will admit but unless you can put the damn ball in the hoop you will still lose 100 out of 100 times. All the other team has to do is make one more basket than you. Shut them down to a league leading 45 baskets a game but only make 44 yourself and guess what? You lose. Are you too obtuse to recognize this?

Y'all hear an actual argument w/ reason and thought, but you try to regress it down to something so basic. I can't tell if you genuinely don't understand basic basketball things or if you're trolling.

Y'all look at this ---->>>>>>> https://stats.nba.com/teams/advanced/?sort=DEF_RATING&dir=-1&Season=2017-18&SeasonType=Regular Season

That's a list of defensive rating from last year. If you look at it, you see the Jazz were #1 last year. It's kind of important for the Jazz to be a really good defensive team because that's their identity. It's kind of like returning to that point it super important or something. It's kind of like when the team is making progress towards improving their defense this year and getting back to that point, it's like a good thing and a sign of progress. The Jazz started the year and first month of the season playing slightly above average defense, but not good. The past 10 games, they have been trending up and are now 6th in adjusted defensive rating.

I put all that in big bold font. Maybe that's the issue for Scat.

So because the Jazz are 14-16 it shows that a game where they had an effective FG% of 35 isnt an outlier?

Because when I look at the facts (https://www.teamrankings.com/nba/stat/effective-field-goal-pct) the Jazz rank 8th in effective field goal percentage at 53.2%.

So please, explain to me with your dumbass brain how tonight wasnt an outlier performance. I swear, you have to be trying to be as stupid as you are.
Wow, resorting to insults to any who disagree with you is so last year. Let me use one if my Masters Degrees tobtry abd explain. The Jazz have been amazing in a few games, putting up huge scores at staggering efficiency (Like the GS game), however they have clapped the bed in many games also. The 53.2% is an average. If I shoot 100% in one game and 0% in the next, I’m shooting 50% and you my friend would claim I was good? If anything, the good shooting games are the outliers, hence our record. However, at your insistance. I will take my dumbass brain and forget about how statistics can lie.

There's no escaping it, Donovan has taken a noticeable step back this year.

Sophomore slump for sure, but no mention of the offensive structure effecting his abilities?

**** around for 20 seconds and pray DM or Rubio can bail you out. He ain't gonna be efficient in that, but efficient enough.

But his 3 ball sucks, stop jacking up shots please. And so that complaint begs the response, well, how else do we get offense dummy?

DM is fine; QS offense has issues.

There's been 30 games...

How many of the next 6 games do we win? We've got Houston on the road, GS at home, Portland on the road, OKC at home on a back 2 back, Portland and Philly at home. I have a hard time seeing us winning more than 2 of those and I wouldn't be completely shocked if we only win 1 or even lose all 6.

1....Jazz will again be approaching 10 games below .500 and at that point it is time to come to reality. The run that happened last year was historical. It isn’t happening again people. Jazz needed to win a game like today if they are good. They are not. Time to come to terms with that. It amazes me how some of you act like this is freaking out or something. There’s a very good chance in the next 10 games Jazz will find themselves close to 10 games below .500. Coming back from that would take another huge run. I’ve looked at their schedule from January-April. Good luck with making that run again.

Props to Cy for putting up the good fight against several different over-reactions, poor arguments, and blame games in a single evening. Not always a fan of his style, but I trust that the substance of his opinions are well-thought through and not knee-jerk.

A week from now if the Jazz are 14-20 can we have a talk everyone who says people are “freaking out”? Or will it still be too early to talk?

It’s all good it’s only a game and good to see Jazz fans passionate, even if we all disagree.
It was still an inaccurate analogy since in your example you used a two game sample size (I'm going to assume that you're taking the same amount of shots in each game to get to your 50% since you claim to be using a masters degree for that) when the Jazz season has been a 30 game sample size and much more varied than your example.

Also, for what it's worth, the GSW game isn't even close to the best offensive performance for the Jazz this season. It ranks 9th in TS% and 7th in ORTG. Their opening night performance against the Kings is hands down the best offensive performance from the team all season, the team shot a ridiculous 74.9 TS% and had an ORTG of 135.6. Their 2nd best game offensively was against the Celtics on the 9th of November at home.
