Agreed. I didn't understand people clamoring for freaking Austin Rivers. D'Lo is one of the most frustrating players in the NBA. He'll look amazing for a stretch and then do something so boneheaded you just cringe. Earlier in the season they were up 1 against the Pelicans with time winding down. All he had to do was hold the ball and get fouled. Instead he throws a NO LOOK PASS to Caris Levert who obviously isn't expecting it. Then Jrue Holiday hits a gamewinner. In their OT game against Memphis I watched, he hit a couple big shots, and then dribbled the ball for like 23 seconds on a possession and just fell down out of bounds.
I understand Locke choosing to talk him about because he seems so unJazz-like that no one would accuse him of insider knowledge, but I get where he's coming from trying to find the next Oladipo. That high draft pick who has only played on bad teams usually with terrible coaches. D'Lo has played for Tank Commander Byron Scott and then the tank-by-proxy Nets. Their fans are pretty split on Kenny Atkinson.
For anyone who thinks Brooklyn will just match whatever is offered in RFA, if they don't renounce Russell and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, they'll only have 19mil in cap space (Allen Crabbe is surely going to opt into his 18.5mil option). If they renounce Russell and keep RHJ, they'll have 41mil since Russell's cap hold is 21.1mil, and then they can go after a max guy.
