What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

JOE Harris. You know, the lethal 3 point shooter that we should've signed last offseason who got paid less than Exum?

This is a tough one to swallow. We had full MLE available and easily could have beaten the offer. They may have just matched, but make them pay damn it. He was one of 5-6 guys I thought we should pursue last year

How's Dinwiddie's D? I would also rather have him on his deal than Russell on his. I would probably still take Dinwiddie over Russell independent of money.

Would way rather have Conley than CP3 all things considered.

If the Lakers strike out i think they will trade for him though.
Go for Conley. I mean, at least a trade for CP3 would be a good roll of the dice, even though we may be ****ed for a while. Would give props to the FO for doing something different, even if it blew up in our face. But I'd love to see the drama unfold with CP3 going to LA, screwing their cap, and being a corpse after next year.

I would have trouble rooting for CP3, but he'd be amazing with Donovan. He's also one of the last NBA stars I could see living in Utah.
Well, he would be for at least 3 years, because that contract wouldn't be going anywhere.

Favors+Exum for CP3... take it or leave it?
**** no. And I'm one of the few cp3 fans on this site. (I have always been a fan since his college days and was pissed we took d-will)

Day contract doe

Favors+Exum for CP3... take it or leave it?

I predicted trouble when that new owner came in... he is not as rich as many of the others and pushed a lot of his wealth into the team. Made all sorts of cost cutting moves. Now they have a weird dynamic/power struggle thing going on. The coaching changes are weird and there is some in fighting.

If all it cost was Favs and Exum I'd consider it... even with his decline if he is healthy at the right time he's good still. The biggest issue is he's an *******. How many of his former teammates like him... he grates on dudes and his act is so tired. I'd say no as I think the cost will be much more than that.

If they don't have CP3 I don't think they beat us next year.

So another name I heard thrown around that we haven't discussed at length... Bobby Portis. He is restricted but an offer that starts around 11-13M and declines by 5% averages out to 4/40-46... and it would cause luxury tax concerns once they retain Sato and Bryant.

He's a solid/good offensive player... the on/off stuff plus his volume an decent efficiency seems to indicate that. He can play some 5 (but you likely get lit up with him there). He is pretty damn bad on defense, but I wonder if 1- Could Rudy offset his terribleness 2- Could he improve... not like he was playing with other good defenders.

Anyway an interesting down the line option... I think I might rather go after Parker on a more team friendly deal but wanted to see if any of you jokers had thoughts on him.

I also think Niko's value has taken a tumble to the point where he could be had in the 12-15M range (I would have pegged him at 15-20M prior to getting benched) and be a decent value at that number.

Honestly these are all good ideas if we strike out on the bigger names. I'd probably want Jabari the most, but trading for Conley and getting one of these guys is a pretty damn good offseason.

I'd take Parker over Portis. Here's a big one: I'd lean Parker over Niko, due mostly to more offensive versatility, but also because I know there's no way the FO goes Niko > Favors.

I want Conley + Jabari. Or Conley + Niko.

Hopefully Memphis is patient enough to wait until after the first wave of free agency to trade Conley. Because we can get one of these guys with $14 million in cap space, and then trade Favors+Korver+whatever to get Conley.

Still wouldn't be excited, but I'd 100% take a gamble on CP3 over Conley. If we moved for either we're obviously saying screw it to cap space for the near future.
