What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Any year.

Not last year.

It’s great that you believe that efficiency in a vacuum trumps all other considerations.

Well, except for my saying the opposite, sure. It's a measure of how ridiculously committed you are to getting rid of Favors that you have have not noticed that I have agreed with you that we need to decrease the redundancy.

You’re free to have your opinion, but I would put money on the table that 90% of professional evaluators would think your point is half-baked with some substantial portion of them actually chuckling.

I'm not particularly impressed with your ability to read the minds of professional evaluaters.

But that’s all beside the point that Favors doesn’t make this team better, and if the Jazz were going to trade him for something of value, they would’ve done it at some point in the last two years.

Yet, most of the board seems convinced they will do it this year. It's the right time to trade him. If we could arrange a sign-and-trade of Favors for Harris, I think both teams benefit.

Dallas, Phoenix, Clips, Lakers, Bulls, Knicks, Kings, Pacers, Hawks, and the Jazz.

Russell seems like a Knicks guy... no way he goes back to Lakers. I think it’d be between Dallas, Utah and NY. Kings don’t have a need... Phoenix and Chicago don’t have enough cap space. Pacers maybe.

Tobias helps the jazz more imo which is really what matters
This ^

Tobias Harris should be priority #1.

My only regret is that the Jazz couldn’t get in on that deal and swap Exum for Prince. Would’ve been a good fit AND would save the Jazz about $6 million in cap space this year.

Sure, but it's not like Crowder is better than Favors in every lineup.

2 was the standard substitution pattern for most of the season. Didn't you watch the games?
You said they ONLY played gobert and favors together against the opposing starters. I guarantee that isn't true and is almost impossible.

Different teams substitute different positions at different times depending on all kinds of factors.
Guaranteed that gobert and favors were on the floor against backups many times.

I think Russell is a true PG and wants to facilitate more than shoot a ton. I think he fits very well next to Donovan.

Dallas - they already have Doncic as their main facilitator. And do they have $25ish?

Phoenix - they don't have the money

Clips - interesting, but eh

Lakers - they got Ball and they sold him off

Bulls - we are more attractive.

Knicks - They have Dennis Smith Jr. They could try to get him, but I think they imagined a bigger, established free agent

Kings - they have Fox as their PG

Pacers - interesting

Hawks - they got Trae

Jazz - great locker room (he valued that a ton last year in Brooklyn), good team lacking a PG, his buddy Donovan, we got the money, he will get a bunch of easy looks, good coaching

If it's us vs the Clippers or Knicks, I really like our chances.

I included people that could get to a max slot if they really wanted to. Phoenix and Dallas could get there pretty quick if motivated.

This. Rudy has no business ever standing beyond the three point line. He needs to be cleaning up the offensive boards, and setting up for lobs.

Nah, being able to do multiple things makes you a better player. It gives you more options depending on what the defense does. It makes him better at setting up for lobs if defenders are forced to guard him all the way out to the 3. Just hitting 1 or 2 threes a game at a decent percentage opens up the court so much for himself and others.

Saw this posted on reddit. Donnie getting busy. And the reflection in the water makes it look like Tobias is only wearing a belt...

Actually, simply sitting favors on the bench in favor of Crowder improves the jazz.

Statistically that is true. But it is also true that if you sat Gobert and put Favors in with Crowder we were even better. .R. Rubio, .J. Crowder, .R. Gobert, .J. Ingles, .D. Mitchell lineup was +12. .R. Rubio, .D. Favors, .J. Crowder, .J. Ingles, .D. Mitchell was +22.2.

Who helps Donovan more, a guard like DRuss or a forward like TobiasH?

I think Harris is slightly better right now but D-Lo is at a position of more need. Plus I think he will improve more over time since D-Lo is much younger.

Right away I think D-Lo improves us more than Harris because he is what we need more.
