What type of candidate can beat Trump?

How about someone that loves our country, believes in the Constitution, has lived a moral life and repents when they have made mistakes. Someone who defends our rights as citizens of the US, i.e, free speech, gun rights, etc. As a Democrat, you would already have the media in your pocket so you have that going for you. Except for the moral life part and being a Republican, this sounds like only Trump would beat Trump in 2020....

Trump doesn't repent when he makes mistakes.

Now you’re talking about personal brand. But if you’re talking policy - which is what you were referring to earlier until I called you out and you shifted to talking about her personality - Clinton was as moderate and warhawk as they come.

Because you literally chose the one person the right hates the most. And you knew it lol. I’m sorry you want to act like a Clinton, a woman they still call for jail time for, is someone the right would ever vote for. You could probably pick anyone else.

But yup, totally shifting goal posts.

“Christians want a passionate person with intelligence...”

“Well, the devil is passionate and smart...”

Smfh lol

Someone that the Ds can vote for and be just enough center that all the lost Rs can stomach it and vote for them. There’s a very really path for a Reagan/Mondale victory for the Ds.

Let a moderate win the big seat. Then lack the Senate and House with those of a more liberal tint. Then you’re pushing bills in front of the president that are decidedly liberal in nature.

I hope immigration, healthcare, education and infrastructure are the main priorities.

And let the socialism role! This would literally be the beginning of the end of the United States of America.

Trump doesn't love anyone or anything but Trump, and is happy to use our Constitution as toilet paper.

Anyone else like Andrew Yang? He's pretty likable. I'm not sure about $1K a month, but lord knows I'm not not sure of it too.

Regardless of who is nominated, the right-wing media will make sure they are detested.
Hillary was very well regarded as Sec of State, but they really drummed up the hate machine when it was clear she was going to be the Democratic nominee in 2016.

Have you ever watched the movie “Game Change?” It has woody harrelson as McCain’s campaign advisor (Steve Schmitt) and Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin. It was a wonderfully acted movie but the book goes into far greater detail into the political fight of 2007-2008.

Harry reid originally approached Obama and told him to run for president. Obama was hesitant, stating his lack of experience and that Clinton was far more qualified. Reid countered and told him almost prophetically that, “Hillary wasn’t electable.”

And the rest is history.

Hillary just had too much baggage. Someone in the DNC needed to shut down the Clinton political machine years ago as she would’ve cost them in 2008 and did cost them in 2016.

Dems need to focus on who will be the most electable candidate. Otherwise, they may yet again win the popular vote but lose badly in the electoral college. That means most definitely finding someone who can excite the base but also appeal to moderates in purple/red states. If Dems don’t get those they’ll lose.

Trailer to game change:

Yeah. But one could also claim that the hate machine had been going for decades before. Honestly, when hasn’t Hillary been attacked consistently?

The public needs to do a better job and stop falling for cheap attack ads. But Dems need to learn from losing over 1,000 seats since Obama was elected on how to win elections.

Seeing how they've wimped out on the trump impeachment and just got steam rolled by mcconnnell with border funding, I don’t think they’ve learned their lesson.

I'd vote for this...

To a degree sure. Then working against the D candidate is a given. But lots of right leaning people are still out there looking for someone.

Who's morals? Yours? Who do they have to repent to? Your God or someone else's? Which gun rights are you talking about the one originally intending in the constitution or the new version that Republicans have been pushing? Which Supreme court precedent do you think is correct with it? Which interpretation of the constitution does this person need to have?

Also, Trump does not fit into any of those. I cant think of a president that has been this anti free speech ever in my lifetime possibly ever in the history of the US. I dont think he has apologized or "repented" of anything ever. I dont think he is in Fox news's pocket but I dont know if I have ever seen a major media outlet and a president have a relationship like Trump and Fox do. They are pretty good at scratching each others backs.
