One thing I don’t understand, why don’t the parties host and moderate the debates and invite news agencies to watch? I think asking a candidate to answer a question in 45 seconds that would take hours to fully explain isn’t informative at all.

Because news agencies are moderating these debates, they’re really only asking loaded questions and giving candidates just enough time to answer so that the news agency gets a hot sound byte they can replay for the next 24 hours.

The goal of these debates shouldn’t be to get ratings or sound bytes, but to inform the public.

Hell, I’d be happy if PBS just did all of the debates.

The herd needs to thin out in order to dig deeper into the issues at least, but I agree with changing the format into something more formal.
 
I think Gabbard would make it really tough for Trump. Intelligent, has a calm demeanor, has served, and appears as she would not be phased by direct attacks (she wouldn’t have the dirt that Hillary had). I really like her, never been so keen of a Democrat candidate before.

Gabbard is hot. So I do think she’d make it really hard for trump. He’d probably try and sexually assault her on stage. Would Susan Collins and Mitt Romney give us our “disappointed” frowney faces?

None of the candidates have much charisma though. That's one of the problems. If anything, the most impassioned and electric candidate so far might be Elizabeth Warren, but she still comes across like an angry old grandmother. It's like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren belong together, like they're your two craggy old in-laws.

Which of these candidates can really fire up their base and fill an arena?

In addition to hating on Trump, some Dem candidate is going to need to really connect with and inspire people. It's early, but they all come across pretty bland.

Kind of bland might not be the worst thing with Trump's oversized personality as a foil. In more personal settings I think Warren actually comes across pretty well.
 
If I were advising Trump, I’d get him to organize 20 major rallies in traditional Democratic strongholds. Especially in places where my political opponents have been entrenched for years and there’s major issues that have been problems for years. San Francisco, LA, NYC, Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, Philadelphia, etc.

I’d keep my message focused on positive outcomes and hopeful improvements. I’d avoid any racist or sexist wording that can be used against my purpose. I’d get people registered to vote and I’d get voter rolls for my election campaign and for the RNC. Then I’d take every dime earned from those rallies and donate it to local charities that are dedicated to solving the obvious problems of homelessness, drug abuse, crime, hunger, pest control problems, etc.

Start fighting for the “hearts and minds” in enemy territory. And if the Democrats feel like they need to up their investment in their community so Trump doesn’t make them look bad. . . that’s even better. Because, quite frankly, it doesn’t matter who fixes the damn problem - as long as fixes get made. Imagine having Trump donate millions of dollars to help ease the homeless crisis in San Francisco. Pelosi and Harris and Newsome would all freak out. But how could they trash him? They’d have to match his efforts or exceed them.

Ah! The pretend big bad all encompassing "liberal media." This pretend organized group of millions of media people and organizations all out to get you, lol.

This is the best thing that right has done. They have pushed this for years along with Fox News to create this false narrative. Also that Fox is the balance to that is very amusing.

It could be the fact that you are American specifically. Also, How long were you there for? It's a big place too. China has multiple sub-cultures within.

Update for me. I got to see some racism last night here in Beijing. I have been seeing a Chinese women for a couple weeks now and we held hands and walked around town. A lot of people stare at me so I am used to that. But I felt like more people were staring at me/us and not in as nice of way. Then we went into the subway and a few Chinese men scowled at us and 2 older Chinese men came over and mumbled some racist things. I dont know what they said but the women said they were not nice

For me it was mostly entertaining. It was a little more bothersome to her though. I just smiled at everyone. I am positive that mixed color couples in the US get these same type of looks and have heard that from them. I have been out with women of different skin colors in the US and never noticed anything. But I am sure if I was the one with different skin color and was with a white women, old white men in USA would scowl and possibly say something. Lots of cultures have this fear of men from different cultures coming in and "stealing" their women. Which is so silly and sexist, along with racist.

I pay all this money for insurance and then do everything i can to avoid the doctor. Doesnt matter how sick i get or hurt i get, i aint going to the doctor.
Have a lump or a growth on my skin that might be cancer? Well i will just pretend i dont notice it and hope im lucky rather than go to the doctor.

Unfortunately, attempts to address these issues are being blocked in the Senate. I'm curious how you blame Democrats for that.

This is kinda my number 1 criteria for president.
Part of why I hate Trump as president.

My number 2 criteria is I want my president to be a mostly good person who cares about people.
Another reason why I hate Trump as president.

My number 3 criteria is that my president shouldn't make me feel embarrassed as an American to have him as my representative.
My biggest reason why I hate Trump as a president.

It’s more than just racist or sexist.

Due to the “One child” policy, there’s a bigly disproportionately large amount of males to females in China. If families could only keep one child, they’d keep the male. Otherwise, they’d abort/sell their female child. So Racism figures into this, but the dating scene or their perspective of the dating scene is that you’re “stealing” one of the few dating prospects that they have.

Fwiw Trump doesn't have charisma either.
Unless the definition of charisma has changed to childish, moronic, crazed, over the top, stupid......

It's sad that America seems to want a president that is entertaining more than smart, composed, dedicated, classy, etc.

This is also my biggest issue with Trump. I don't hate the job he has done, and will probably vote for him in 2020 (I didn't vote for him last time), but I don't like him as a representative of American culture and norms. I wish he was a good example as a father/husband/man, but that is not his primary role. I guess he is kind of like chemotherapy, nobody is thrilled with it because it causes a lot of undesirable damage but there is not a better alternative.
