El Paso Shooting

$50 bet

I bet you there are more shootings in Chicago than there are in Alaska(x4) this weekend. Chicagos population is 2.7 mill. Alaska is 735000 . Let's play math. So if there are 2 shootings in Alaska them that counts as 8.

By your theory for every one shooting in Alaska there will be >4 in Chicago. Let's put it to the test.
Go **** yourself. No bet. Counter offer: How about we go with Taiwan vs. Any place in america with similar population straight up. Next two weeks.

Or u could just venmo me the money now like a bitch.

It’s pretty hilarious to watch poster after poster post solid metaphors, arguments, and statistics becoming exacerbated at a certain blocked poster of mine and me already knowing who it is. It’s really like arguing against the wall with him. Part of me thinks he knows when he’s lost an argument. But to save face he continues to dig his hole deeper until a poster finally lashes out in frustration and then he can claim that he’s “leaving” because of personal insults and attacks.
Yeah. I'm wanting my time back now. Could've used it more productively tonight. What a ****ing joke.

Yep. @Zombie and I went at him about a week ago regarding racism and anti-semitism. Wasn’t that it? I can’t even remember how.

I do remember that It was a tremendous waste of time. That’s when I blocked him.

I’ve already blocked most of the right wing trolls. So it can sometimes be hard to follow a discussion or know who’s blocked. But not this time, it’s obvious by good posters becoming so frustrated with this blocked poster’s refusal to read their posts, address their points, or understand basic statistics.

Thought you ignored me.

Now you come to hurl insults. Cheers!!!

Gotcha didn't I? Your mood sure changed. Can't even back up your wrong theory.
You moved away from Fairbanks for a reason.

Why am I still responding. Dude go to bed.

Alaska*4 having less murders than Chicago over time is an outcome that would back up what many of us have been saying all along. You're just too dense to realize it. The per capita gun murder rate in chicago is 23.8 per 100,000 and the state of Alaska's is 5 point something. By putting a multiplier next to Alaska you've essentially admitted that population density does matter and that comparing the totals of places with vastly different population sizes is, in fact, stupid as ****.

Your **** bet deserved a like response. Which bet of ours do you think would be dumber to take and why?

This is a pretty interesting article. Hawaii has fairly high gun ownership, but gun deaths roughly on par with France.

Hawaii does have pretty stringent gun control laws. Mandatory licensing with mental health checks and a ten day waiting period, bans on domestic abusers from ownership as well as bans on high capacity magazines and so called assault rifles.

Hawaii's isolation also plays a large role here; It's much more difficult for someone to bring in a gun from another state with lax gun laws for obvious reasons. But it makes you wonder what would happen if every state took Hawaii's lead on this.

I like Iceland as a model.

No you've been saying all night that none of that mattered. You're saying it should be equal. That if both had a population of 2.7 million that both would have equal murders.

I'm saying there are things like poverty stricken areas, ghettos, gang areas by the police chiefs own admission that make areas in Chicago far more dangerous than Alaska.

Its common sense dude. These areas are dangerous. These small pockets are responsible for a lot of the gun problems in said cities. Chicago has plenty of nice areas. Most of Chicago is pretty nice but there are a lot of dangerous areas as well.

How you can disagree with me is astonishing.

C'mon JazzyFresh. Keep up. You should know why per capita statistics have to be used here right? It's simple math. That's why the gun violence statistics in South Korea and Japan are so spectacular. We're talking about a population density that surpasses our biggest cities. People fight, people bicker. It's gonna happen because people are living on top of each other (relatively). Yet, murders occur at a much lower rate. Mass killings? nearly unheard of.

It's not that Koreans and Japanese have lower rates of depression and mental illness. The suicide rates are comparable for sure. People commit crimes. However, the crimes just don't result in bodies.

We can't have this though. The cat is out of the bag in this country to be honest. We have too many gun nuts, much like our friend JazzyFresh here, who think their guns are gonna defend them (LOL).

Just FYI, the second amendment wasn't created by God himself. The rest of the world doesn't have one.

Question, if the second amendment was disbanded and the man said guns are banned, would you hand yours in? I don't think enough would and we'd still have massive gun issues on our hands for a long time.

Not to prolong this obviously exhausted debate, but why shouldn’t gun by suicide count towards gun violence statistics? I know critics of gun regulation bitch that gun suicide shouldn’t count, but why shouldn’t it? This is one of the major reasons why I support stronger gun regulation; the other being accidental gun shots.

The data has been pretty clear for a while now, more guns and ease of access = more gun violence and accidents.

And then if you compare our gun violence with those other countries of the industrialized world to our silly gun laws... it paints an obviously clear picture on what’s wrong with our country.

It’s time to stop seeking identity through guns. Rest assured, we’d see strong gun regulation reform if African Americans across the south began open carrying in diners and walmarts.

LMAO. Just stop. You are trolling, or an endlessly entertaining idiot.

It's totally the second one.

무식할수록 담당해진다는말이 맞다니까. ㅜ.ㅜ

And for the record, I agree that the State of Alaska is safer in regards to gun homicide than Chicago. Unfortunately, we weren't arguing about that. I'm actually far from convinced that you even know what it is that we were arguing about at all.

All I've learned is that you can't comprehend why per capita statistics are used, and possibly even what per capita means as a word.

I'm just preaching common sense lol. Chicago is a more dangerous city than Fairbanks. You're saying otherwise. Lol
