What's new

Does the Jazz FO have a "WIN NOW" mentality for the upcoming season?

Would any of yawl like some cheese witcho whine? I knows where ya can git some limberger that I betcha would finds right tasty, if ya want, eh?

I mean, like, think about it, eh? There ya are, a Thugget fan. Here, at the beginin of the year, your team is picked to be most likely to dethrone the Lakers in the western conference. Ya done made all kinda trades, and everything.

Then, ya ends up gittin beat by a short-handed team with players picked by that idiot KOC and coached by the moronic Sloan. If ever a fanbase had a good reason to wanna storm the front office....

So, moral of the tale is this here: It could be more worser--ya could be Denver, playin "random basketball," with a buncha ball-hoggin headcases.

I would like to see the real banner at ESA as much as anyone I know but saying there is no plan is ridiculous. The ultimate prize continues to elude us but we have had far more success than most NBA franchises. That does not happen by chance. And no they don't have a must win now attitude.

I think that the plan is to win as much as possible every year without sacrificing too many future wins, while spending as little as possible. It sounds like a lame line that the FO would use publicly, but after hearing Rigby on the radio the other day, it would not surprise me if this was their plan.

You nailed it. That's the plan every year.
Watch the bottomline, do just about enough to keep the team "competitive" and sustain the season ticketholders' interest, project yourself as if you are really committed to winning a chamionship, when deep inside you know that you dont have a snowball's chance in hell to compete against the Lakers and need some major luck from somewhere. And see if a matchup quirk or two wont get you till the second round or even WCF, like it did in 2006-2007.

That 2007 fluke run has what kept the Jazz afloat these past 3 years. It has even made the fanbase forget the AK disaster contract to some extent.

So, moral of the tale is this here: It could be more worser--.

Is'nt that always the standard stock philosophical reply we get from dedicated FO-supporters? That things could be much worse.

Yeah, I guess I have to be thankful now that we are not the Clippers and our owner is not Sterling. what next?

Wrong, Hide. If they had only just won one more game last years, injuries and all, they wouldn't have played the Lakers in the second, and mighta been in the finals. .

Its always about the ifs and buts with the Jazz, isnt it?.

The fact that screams out though is, 4 years IN A ROW the Jazz werent good enough to get homecourt even in the first round. And it is not like as if we are the 95 rockets or for that matter the 2010 Celtics either, who can afford to kind of coast during the season and then switch it on in the playoffs. No, usually, our guys break down before the playoffs or play like scared puppies.

so how are KOC and Miller boy going to explain that we internally improve every year and are an elite team close to contention, although we never end up being higher than fifth seed in the regular season, and get knocked out in the same round year after year? I guess with the same series of ifs and buts that you have used.

Wrong, Hide. If they had only just won one more game last years, injuries and all, they wouldn't have played the Lakers in the second, and mighta been in the finals. Either way, they stomped them sorry-*** nugz without two of their starters. But, ya know, go right on ahead witcho bad self and makes stuff up, if it helps ya.

What stuff am I making up? Take off your homer glasses. The Jazz would never get to the finals because they can not beat the Lakers so it doesn't really matter when we played them. Heck even DW knows the Jazz are not a championship team but you hold onto your Jazz security blanket while you keep telling yourself that the Jazz were really close to winning a championship. Keep living in hopperville where the Jazz are just one player away, if it helps ya.

The standard argument coming from a homer, it you do not blindly bow down to the front office then you are whining. Yea we beat Denver!. Did the Jazz get a banner for that great accomplishment.

I got's me a smart little nephew what gots his self a perfect score on his SAT and ACT tests. Now he gittin scholarship offers from Harvard, Stanford, and other schools all over the damn country. He probably thinks he done sumthin, but I always tells his punk ***:

Nephew, ya aint but 4th in yo class of 400. Ya aint nuthin.

Years back, I hadda fine little girl I woulda done anythang in the world for. She wanted a diamond ring, real bad. So, one night, I busted into the best jewelry store in Chicago and stold the biggest diamond they had--worth about $15,000 even way back then.

I said: Looky here at what I brung ya, Darlin! She say: "Hopper, I knowz for a stonecold fact that there are bigger and better diamonds in the world than this--this aint gunna cut it."

I pawned the diamond for $300 and went and got drunk. I aint give that Babe a nickel since, neither. Now and again I seez her and she ax if I still wanna gives her that diamond ring. She says she done decided it might do, after all.

One word, eh?:

Sisyphus

Exactly. Though our two Finals appearances were a sweet bonus, we've passed the point where we should be contending once again and should be improving - we were in rebuilding mode six or so years ago - and we're still not where we should be...

yeah.

We dont have superstars in our roster thats why we will be always just a playoff team. Its really sad :(

P.S there is only one way to have superstar players. Draft and develop them.

Nobody from James, Wade etc never ever sing with Utah :(

Its also sad

It's not really that sad. We have drafted and developed two superstars that played for 2 decades. We also have a big star on our team now.

I don't know if I want to hear the free agents sing at all, let alone with Utah. J/K.

I wish they would sign with Utah, but until they realize that it's not that kooky here, most of them will never even give Utah a shot.

I know the story. It's pretty common; No Nightlife, Mormons, etc. All the questions that the radio announcer in Miami asked Booz.

Most of the ignorant, who aren't familiar with Utah, think it's a big deal. Sure if you are a young guy, looking for the nightlife, I guess I can see that point, but everyone from Memo to Andrei to Deron and Booz all say, Utah is a great place to raise a family. I guess it depends on what the free agents are looking for. Who wouldn't want to play with DWill? Even Greg Monroe said he'd love to play with DWill.
