Just curious, what’s Donald’s campaign message for 2020? He spoke for nearly 2 hours tonight. What’s his coherent and energetic message? Could you tell us?
He’s the (impeached) incumbent with failed promises, trillions of debt, an economy in shatters, and soon 200,000 dead due to his failed response to a pandemic.
Trump's message appears to be, from what I can tell, "The left is crazy, and they're dangerous."
A lot of people, including moderates like me, think the impeachment was spurious.
The debt is a problem, but I doubt it gets blamed on Trump. Big banks and the Fed are still playing dangerous games with cheap money, but they're addicted to it now.
I doubt Trump gets blamed for the coronavirus either, or the response. He went along with social distancing, per the NIH, and the governors set the policy for their states.
Trump will blame China for letting the virus get out, and he'll use it to enforce the idea that we need to be tougher on China relations and less dependent on them.
The economy was broken mostly due to the global pandemic. I doubt that Trump gets blamed for it, or that Biden will get credit for having a better policy. You can't have it both ways--if you shut the country down for public health reasons, you kill the economy. So pick your poison.
Trump is not unbeatable by any means, but I think it will take a strong candidate and a united Democratic party to do it. And the Dems have just the opposite.
Maybe BLM will grow into a bigger civil rights movement, as some people hope it will, and maybe that will galvanize support for Biden. But otherwise, I'm not seeing how Biden is a compelling candidate. Biden hasn't shown that he hold a coherent stream of thought for more than 10 - 15 seconds, and his only claim so far is that he's not Trump.
