Following Potential 2020 draftees

I can make an argument why a team might take Scrubb ahead of Elijah Hughes and other guys in the 2nd round. I don't know why you'd need a top 35 pick to get him though. Maybe he sneaks in the 1st round with the 29th or 30th pick, along with guys like Cassius Stanley or Immanuel Quickley.

From everything I’ve read about him and scouting videos I’ve seen, Scrubb will need a **** tone of coaching. And doesn’t have the sharpest basketball IQ in the world. He could end up being one of those uber talented players that doesn’t or will never understand how to maximize it to its fullest potential.

ey Jayden Scrubb is a guy you'd figure would want to show up to the combine to post big #'s.... Perhaps he did shut it down because of a promise...

I just was unimpressed with Scrubb in the showdown vs Tyon Grant-Foster. that to me left a lasting impression.

As to how he compares to Cassius Stanley ---- Now thats a convo worth having. Scubb's 3pt shot is obviously better, it looks better.

The Scrubb stuff feels like smoke lmao.

I also wonder with how much Locke has talked about Woodard if that is also smoke. Maybe the Jazz trying to bump up his stock so someone else drops to them.
Except Locke telegraphs the Jazz pick pretty consistently.

Maybe, but he doesnt do it all the time. That's also how this strategy works.

I'm sure the Jazz like Woodard, but they may be willing to raise his stock so he gets ahead of them so someone else drops. IDK. The Jazz obviously muzzle Locke a bit when talking about prospects, ie Donovan Mitchell.

For those not paying attention to the podcast, Locke did today pick Woodard for the Jazz on the Locked on NBA podcast. Green and Bane were already off the board at that point. Locke said he was basically choosing between McDaniels and Woodard, going with the narrative that the Jazz are unlikely to pick either a C or PG.

His commentators (J. Woo, C. Ford, J. Lloyd, etc.) politely panned the pick a bit, generally saying that while Locke's reasoning makes some sense, they still think Woodard is a reach at #23.

I'm still unsure what to think about the Locke forecasting stuff. On the one hand, until this coronavirus year, he has had access to workouts (and perhaps convos with Jazz brass), so he's able to see some of what the Jazz see. Maybe he's just independently reaching the same conclusion the Jazz do, though his prediction rate is uncanny. On the other hand, I think it's kind of weird that his "accuracy" is so well known among the fanbase, yet the team seemingly does nothing to muzzle him a bit.

Whatever it is, it IS. And I think Woodard makes a lot of sense at #23.

The other media figure that seems to be as well-sourced is Tony Jones and he mentioned that he and Locke were in “lock-step” on Woodard despite that they frequently have different views.

I honestly think it all just makes a ton of sense. If Woodard translates, he checks off a lot of boxes.

I think this draft with the virus and all, there could be a bunch of WTF picks. Could get interesting.

Here's a strong take on my part - I don't see it with Deni Avdija. I like all of Killian Hayes, Pokusevski and Maladon better from the overseas prospects.

...hasn't covered Tyler Bey at all. I'm kinda curious about this. Is it a red herring?

He just took Woodard in his mock... I don't think he knows anything honestly... if he did he probably wouldn't quite be this heavy handed.

New Athletic mock definitely had some odd placements for players.

Jazz got Green, and there were some other good players available.

I’m not sure he gets to 23 but Bane is the guy I see us picking... if so DL will mention JazzDNA 500 times in the media interview after. I didn’t like him initially but every time I looked a little deeper I started liking him more.

One side negative is that Locke will say he has an Adonis body 1 million times over the next 4-5 years if he’s on our team.

#LockeWatch has incredible success rate. It would be amazing if he spoils the pick once again. I wonder if opponents will ever realize just how reliable of a spoiler for the Jazz intentions Locke is. Locke probably should be a must listen to all teams in the range we are drafting.

I agree... and I thought about his personality... there would be nothing too heavy handed for him. Woodard to Utah confirmed.
