Miye Oni Hot Take

Miye Oni clearly surpasses O'Neale this year. Becomes successor to Joe Ingles and is a starter by the end of the season.
That’s pretty hot... sounds like fun to me. He’s pretty intriguing.

I could see Mitchell and Hughes as the starting backcourt by next season, or even in games later this season if Mike Conley is sitting out. Hughes is offensively more polished and has a higher ceiling than Oni. I'm optimistic about Hughes.

Oni/Hughes may be the starting 2/3 of the future.

I have Oni as a slight favorite over Shaq to be the 10th man. He has a head start because Shaq can't play yet, but I'm also very optimistic about him. I think he has all the tools to be a good two way player.

I said there was a path to the starting lineup for Oni last year. So, not so hot.

Look he may have microwaved your hot take from last year but that **** still gonna burn the roof of your mouf.

I really like him... I'm hopeful but I think if he works out he's more of a 3 and D guy that dabbles in passing and dribbling occasionally. He has some of the other stuff at a G League level so it isn't crazy... but its hot.

Oni has a flaw I think he needs repetition of what the coach wants him to do to catch on. He is different than Morgan who gets it instantly. Oni's head actually gets in the way sometimes. He would be better if he stopped overthinking.

I would love to see Oni get a legit shot at it. He's one of the 2nd round picks I was all in on. But I'll believe it when I see it.

The Jazz really need a dynamic, 6'8" wing with ball skills, something they really haven't had since Hayward left. It's someone with size who can get in the middle of the floor and playmake. That would be ideal for them at the 3. I'm doubting that either Hughes or Oni will take that on-ball role, but they both should be good complementary 3/D pieces.

A bridge too far for me, but I want Oni to get more minutes this year. With him and Brantley, we need to see what we have.

While I don't think either are going to be stars, we don't need them to be. We just need them to be key role players who can log 15-20 MPG as the future of the team.

Kind of agree. Oni does the right things on the court generally, but sometimes doesn't seem so smooth and natural doing them. Sometimes it seems that his tempo is just not quite right. If he can get this (and the jump shot) down, he has a chance.

Royce is entrenched. He's improving. He does all the little things. He's a willing passer. I think he stays essential.

I think Oni goes from afterthought to part of the regular rotation. That's a big upgrade for a guy we didn't trust much last year.

I'm guessing the Jazz see Miye Oni as potentially being like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who played a nice role for the Lakers in the playoffs this past year.
