What's new

All things Rondae Hollis-Jefferson

Last time I wanted to claim someone off waivers it was DWill and Bogut, both of which would have been nice in our 2017 playoff run in place of Shelvin Mack and Jeff Withey.

What if you had the opportunity to bring Crowder in on the minimum? And what if, since Jae doesn’t shoot threes well and we have other guys we want shooting those, you said, “Jae, don’t shoot threes”? Except Jae can now rebound. And Jae is now a good defender, rather than just a strong energy guy who tries hard? What would you say to signing that guy? You’d all say “hell yeah!”

Now, if you’re not at “hell yeah!”, then go back to the OP and watch the video.

I don't know Jazz numbers to detail. Team is hard capped. I guess he can be claimed off waivers if it is a minimun contract. If it can be done I'd try it. We will need a big, long defender the same way we needed a good D guard. Hamilton & RHJ would make a good pair of designated disruptive guys. Why not?

Is it a coincidence that I started this thread to “burn incense for the spirits” and then a couple hours later we waive Ferrell?

Also posting this. Not because I’ve watched the video (I haven’t) but because the image looks like something that would be inside a burrito from Taco Bell.

Last minute of a close game and you’re doing football substitutions... you can alternate between your offensive possession lineup when you need a basket:

Mitchell
Conley
Ingles / Royce / Clarkson
Bojan
Gobert

And your defensive possession lineup when you need a stop:

Mitchell
Shaq
Royce
RHJ
Gobert

(Nobody scores on the above lineup... switch AF and it’s nice to have a hustle guy who can grab rebounds like RHJ if Rudy steps out to contest, because it’s usually the PJ Tucker’s who eat us alive with putbacks after a great contested shot by Rudy.)

Seriously... you’re the other team and need a basket when the pressure’s on and Quin puts in that ****ing lineup?

That guy isn’t half as good as the guy that was shooting threes for the jazz

The jazz released him? If so, good.

look at this shooting drill by Brandon Ingram. we were absolutely torched. i doubt he could see Royce at all when he release those shots. And Ingram wasn't even top 5 in his position. now imagine us trying to stop kawhi or lebron in the playoffs. Someone like RHJ could help us with that

here's another one. free shooting drills all night long, making it look like a G-league game. today's nba is all about mobile big men and bigger perimeter players. and for a team that has championship aspiration, we will definitely be seeing guys that are simply too quick for our big men and too big for our wing defenders in the playoffs. and we're not even talking about superstars like lebron or kawhi. that's why we need someone like RHJ.

I saw on the interwebs today an article from Boston urging the Celts to take a run at RHJ, Frank the Tank and Gerald Green.

If you get cut by the wolves who definitely need a player that does what you do and has possibly the worst PF rotation in the league... you are probably willing to take whatever is out there. Go offer him a two year minimum with team option on second year... give him a guaranteed deal this year. Now you have a cheap two year piece if he plays okay.

Ryan call your Aussie partner for a quick payday loan of a couple mill and get it done.

I was hoping to wake up to news of a waivers claim. Emphasis on hoping, not expecting. Not expecting at all. But it would be glorious.

You dont even have our best perimeter defender in your defensive lineup....

I'd take out RHJ, slide Royce to the 4 and put Oni in on the wing.

What is the body of work that demonstrates him our best perimeter defender? How come our best perimeter defender didn't log any meaningful playoff minutes when we sorely needed those skills?

I'm not saying he can't be. For all we know he could be. But from where is this notion arising?
