Ravens, Cowboys, Browns, Dolphins, Rams, Redskins are the six teams who had a bye in week five.

The six teams who won in the games involved were all favored to win so there were no upsets. Nothing to see here.
 
Word is it's 1 first rounder plus another conditional 1st rounder. I thought Al Davis was dead? Who's giving the OK to give up so much for an aged QB?
 
Very big gamble for sure for Palmer. I do like that the Raiders are getting him but giving up 2 1st rounders is just way too much. I could see MAYBE 1 and a 4th or 5th rounder. Will be interesting to see how well he does with McFadden behind him and those speedy WR's.

My thoughts exactly. Oakland could be very formidable with Palmer in the fold. I just cant believe Oakland couldnt get him cheaper. m

I thought The Redskins were favored over The Eagles.

In my football pool it was Redskins -1.5

This is beyond moranic in my opinion by the Raiders and absolutely brilliant by the Bengals. The Raiders are giving up that much for someone who essentially hasn't taken a snap in 10 months, never won a playoff game, throws as many freebies to defenders as any qb in the league, and has been a shell of himself for the last four or five years. Meanwhile, David Garrard who's steady, actually won a playoff game (at Pittsburgh) and has a similar career qb rating and is better over the last four years or so, is sitting at home. But I guess the fact there were so many other suitors for Palmer really drove up the...oh wait, that's right. No one else wanted him.
 
I still think Palmer has many good years in front of him. I don't think it was a terrible trade, especially since he's a proven QB that the Raiders haven't had for a long, long time.

What's he proven? He appeared to be right behind Brady and Manning in the elite qb's of the league about five years ago but since that horrific injury in the playoff game vs. Pittsburgh, he's been average and makes a ton of terrible decisions.

Garrard has to have back surgery... thus the reason he is sitting at home.

Quite a few teams wanted Palmer but the owner wouldn't budge on trading him until the Raiders made them an offer they couldn't/wouldn't refuse.

He's on the Bungles dood... Brady and Manning are on the Patsies and Colts. Big Difference.

What Cope said. Who would you rather have as your starter? Campbell or Palmer?
 
Who would've thought the Carson Palmer/QB situation for Cincinnati would work out in their favor? First they hit on the QB they drafted (and not that high, I might add), and then they get two firsts for a guy that was certainly never going to see the field for them ever again? ****ing amazing.

It's too bad John Sloanfeldocalypse will be here shortly to use all caps, pull out his color wheel, end every sentence with a random amount of exclamation points, and just generally clown up this discussion.
 
That said, this doesn't look like a horrible deal for Oakland right now. Palmer isn't perfect, but he SHOULD be the best QB they've had in a long *** time and might make the Raiders pretty damn good.

Or he's ****ing done. It'll definitely be interesting to see.

Well right now, the Colts are the frontrunners as they're the only 0-6 team. You and the Rams are 0-5. There are also five other teams with just one win right now. The good thing for Miami is you have no wins, and you're in a division where all three other teams will be fighting it out for the playoffs, thus giving you a hell of a game when you do play them. The Colts and Rams can't say as much. Those two divisions are weaker, especially the NFC West so the likelihood that those teams pick up a win or two seems greater. I can't speak intelligently about any out of division games though.

I'll be rooting hard against Indy this year because I ****ing hate the Dolphins.
