Bingo. So here's the Markkanen take if you're looking at the big picture:
@Handlogten's Heros theorem says that this summer you either have to dump Favors or Bojan if you're bringing Conley back. The big issue on Markkanen is that you've gotta pay him this summer. Who knows what that looks like. The argument has been that he's underwhelming or maybe he's just Bojan. Who knows. He's not a rebounder, but compared to Bojan his TRB% is nearly twice of his, and has been better in previous years. He's obviously still young. But, if you viewed this from the lens of it also being a preemptive move on Bojan for this summer (under the belief in HH's theorem), then you're essentially making that move now, getting to see Markkanen up close, then worst-case-scenario this summer you let him walk (as opposed to sending out Bojan into someone's cap space). Or you determine you want to pay him, which means you think he's going to be a piece.
Whether or not the Jazz have the pieces or the skill to make a move happen is the question in my mind. But if they could turn Bojan and picks into Markkanen then I honestly think it's a homerun.
