Conley hamstringing again

You can consult two doctors. You don’t go pick up the doctor giving you a second opinion and take them over to your other doctor for them to tell them they’re wrong. As I’ve stated multiple times. I don’t have an issue with him having his own people. I have a problem when he’s mixing them into our games/bench. This isn’t hard to get through your head or understand. His personal trainers have no place on our bench during games or we may as well just start only hiring the people he hand chooses.
The doctor thing happened off the court when they disagreed about Don's Game 1 of the first round. Am I missing something? I just don't think it's a big deal.

It's very discouraging. The most promising Jazz season since 1998 is about to end well short of what any of us had hoped. I worry we're bungling Mitchell's peak years and he's going to get fed-up with losing in the semifinals every year and bolt.

And I can't say I don't blame him. I've thrown around this stat a lot over the last few years but it rings true currently: if Utah doesn't advance against the Clippers, they will have the third longest WCF drought behind Minnesota and Sacramento - not surprisingly, the two worst-run franchises in the NBA currently. That says a lot.
I don’t think Don retires as a Jazz player. He leaves at some point... it’s the nature of the league. We also built around him with some vets that aren’t going to be good or playing in a few years... our window is absolutely right now. We made that bed when we brought in Bojan and Mike.

I think we built around Rudy. If we built around Don, we would have put the ball in his hands. Instead, we have brought in 3 guys who need the ball (Conley, Clarkson and Bojan).

If we built around Don, we would have gone after wings and defenders. I think that's the next phase. We build around Rudy then if that doesn't work, we build around Don.

I mean we built around them both... I was a big advocate of DM is the point guard but this series shows the need for another ball handling playmaker when we get to the highest levels.

Having Mike was great when he was healthy... its worth continuing at the right price and just managing. Need some wing help for sure... preferably someone disruptive that can shoot... but that is like the hardest thing to find in the league.

Kinda good news is that Donovan misses out on all-nba meaning Ryan saved $12M+ (salary plus tax) or so next year that he can spend on retaining Mike.

Between McMahon and Locke I have no confidence Mike plays tomorrow... Locke seemed pretty doubtful. I think he might truly be done.

DM needs to go for 50 tomorrow... Clips gonna have to miss a few of their open threes.

This. Sucks.
Yeah I just listened to Lockes podcast too, and everyone seems pretty doubtful. Dammit.

Donovan is 24, he has until about 31 before his prime years start heading south. He is in the 4th year of his career and has made the playoffs each and every year of that career. Devin Booker just made the playoffs for the first time in his career. DeAaron Fox May never make them in Sacramento. Like come on dude. The Jazz have done a solid job, in fact I would say the worst thing they did for long term success was being good the 2 years after Hayward left instead of just tanking it a couple years. By the way Jazz are also the 5th most winningest NBA franchise as well.

I don't trust the Jazz FO. If they had kept Donovan out, the Jazz may have lost to the Grizzlies. Mike himself said before the start of the Clippers series that this is the playoffs and he was ready to play. That was a week ago.
When lol? Not since he re-injured it

Maybe it'll also piss him off.
Maybe, but the guard position is super deep and making All NBA is difficult. There’s enough great guards in the league not making it isn’t unexpected tbh. Tatum not making it surprised me a lot more than Donovan not.

What an insult that PG, Beal or Irving make it over Don.

The leading scorer on the leagues best record team. Leagues best record and we only get a 3rd team center when center is the thinnest position in the nba?

If he had stayed healthy I think he makes it. Winning is rewarded in the NBA.

You’re kidding right? The literal issue we are having right now is Donovan is handling the ball too much and Mike isn’t there.

Are you kidding? We are struggling because we are built around Rudy which doesn't work especially with a fragile PG (Hill, Conley, Rubio).

We need a PG with Don some, but more defenders and a stretch 5 option.

This roster would be working just fine with a healthy Mike Conley and the Clippers if they beat us will be NBA champions at this point. Yeah, I’m gonna say we aren’t too far from the goal and a couple injuries derailed us. And the team IS built for Donovan. The moves made have literally been for him. They put a ball handling point guard and shooters next to him. Our point guard is hurt. Injuries happen, they suck. Oh well.

My only problem is that we had zero foreshadowing of Conley's potential injuries despite the dude missing like 120 games the four seasons before he was traded to Utah. It just feels we put all our eggs in a broken basket and now are shocked the basket broke and the eggs are sitting on the sidewalk cracked an unusable.

That wasn't the point. HH said we built around Don. I know that we didn't. It was clear that we wanted to put a bunch of guys around Rudy.

We have had an amazing season, but there are still a bunch around here who think we lack what it takes to win the title. It's not just Conley this series. It's more defenders and a stretch big.

I agree that not having Conley isn't the only reason this series is tied. I do think he does a great job of running the offense, and we lack that right now. But I still think the Clippers could have tied it up even if Conley was playing. Where Conley hurts is just how thoroughly limited we look out there and I suspect the games in Los Angeles would have been much closer - or we would have been able to shut down the zone defense better in the second half of game two, forcing Lou to abandon the move and maybe preventing the Clippers from getting into this unstoppable state they seem to be in right now.

But I do think, if Conley was 100% healthy, we're likely winning the west - and that's all you can really ask of any team. Get on the big stage and see what happens.
