I have a feeling their focus is going to be on wing defenders in this draft.
They are going to draft another project big at 30. Upside trumps win now.

That Miye Oni **** is unreal. Can’t shoot, dies on screens.

One of the best defenders in the league?!?! Is DL high right now?

We just can’t have a GM this invested in being right and this committed to stupid, low-upside projects like Oni.

My god, are we really going into another offseason with this guy at the helm?

These DL comments are pretty incredible. Not because they’re stupid, ridiculous, and short-sighted (they are), but because if/when he’s fired, it will be precisely because of this attitude, and he’s not at all aware of the connection between that attitude and our current situation.

I'm perfectly fine grooming this kid. What do we have to lose by making him our 10th guy?

This definitely shouldn't get too much attention.

DL saw that Oni was charging $1k on Cameo and figured that he clearly must have enough value to justify that, and even if Dennis doesn’t currently know what that is, that he needs to hang on to him to find out.

They needed the depth this year. This year. They don't get this year back. So WHY THE **** did they draft Doke AND sign Faves?

I will never get over how inept those moves proved the Jazz FO actually is.
This in mother****ing spades. The doke draft pick was beyond stupid. Mind-bogglingly stupid.

He mentioned that obviously with new ownership it will steer things a new direction. I really don’t expect a stand Pat offseason at all.

And apparently he may not realize that part of “new directions” is likely to include himself.

It’s not keeping Miye Oni on the roster. That’s whatever, it’s the incredibly unrealistic comment that Miye Oni could be one of the best defenders in the league.

It illustrates DL can’t evaluate for **** and is so committed to his projects and being right that he deludes himself into believing a guy drafted at the end of the second round that has shown next to nothing in the past few seasons could develop into the best defender in the NBA.

This man should not be left with the keys to an NBA franchise any longer

This gets attention because Oni was complete *** and that it turns out having real, meaningful depth matters a lot in the playoffs, especially if it builds out a team's versatility.

How does Oni's development improve the Jazz? Maybe one day in year 5 he can be an end-of-rotation player like Niang? This thinking is dog ****.

They need to figure out how they're going to float the loss of Conley and find a stretch/smallball-5 worth a god damn. Oni ain't either, but sure, it'd be great if he didn't suck.

I do think the Wade element will be interesting. Not because I think he’ll make any decisions or necessarily say we need to do certain things, but when he comes into the office and everyone is complimenting DL on his suit, Wade probably won’t have any problem asking him why the **** he’s naked. People may then start to ask questions and wondering why they’ve numbed themselves to staring at his naked ***.

How many things do you have to see to convince you lol. He feels entitled that even as the face of the franchise apparently that’s not his job. He’s a little selfish child.
I honestly don't care. I would be livid in his shoes and probably put myself in a timeout. Have you even had somebody let you down in one of the biggest moments of your life?

I'm not disagreeing. I do feel that Oni can be groomed to give us another 10 minutes of perimeter defender off the bench. We can maximize that asset for at least a little help.

If he can become Niang but for perimeter D and not shooting, what's the harm? We literally have zero assets right now. We have to maximize everything.
