2021 NBA Draft Preview (new thread)

Yesterday KOC mocked Thor to the Jazz. And now CBS mocked my other guy to the Jazz.

This seems a bit high for him. If we could swing it so we get Thor in the 1st round, however unlikely, and Jones with an acquired pick in the 2nd it would be a perfect draft. I need a good Jazz draft for a change.

I think Herb Jones will have a long NBA career because he is going to be a phenomenal defender. #30 seems high for his reported value right now, but he would be a great pick if we are definitely running it back.

Being an excellent defender might mean het gets some actual playing time. What's the point in getting a good offensive guy with questionable defense when Quin won't give anything but garbage time minutes to a young player that's lost on defense.

Exactly. This is why he would be a great pick if we are running it back. Herb Jones is a leader. He's a fighter.

If the Jazz were targeting Jones, I think they'd move back in the draft like they did last year with Dok. Jones is a reasonable pick if the Jazz want someone who is ready to contribute his first year.

If the Jazz were able to draft both Ayayi and Jones in the early 2nd round, that would be pretty solid.

There's something going on with Roko Prkacin, imo. He left the Combine early, and he's only done one workout that I can find news of. That was with Charlotte (#11 pick). Charlotte has also worked out other players who are slated for the late 1st round, so it's possible they have a deal to acquire another pick.

I'm wondering if Roko has a promise. It wouldn't surprise me.

Vrenz Bleijenberg's workouts suggest he's an early 2nd-rd pick:
Milwaukee (31)
New York (32)
OKC (34) (36)
New Orleans (35) (40)
Detroit (37)
Sacramento (39)
San Antonio (41)

It's really lame how tight lipped the Jazz have been about workouts. I miss the days of the Walt Perrin interview after a group workout.

I'd be happy with that. A guard and a wing would be great. Early 2nd round one of Mcbride, Hyland, Ayo could still be available too.

Looking at that, the 30th pick may prove quite valuable. If the Jazz don't want Vrenz and OKC or NO really do, that's our two early 2nd round picks right there.

Looking at some of the guys Hollinger ranked that I havent really seen much buzz about and this dude stood out to me:

Seems like a Juwan Morgan type, but he seems to have a bit more off the dribble game and lateral quickness. Maybe he can actually survive as a small ball 5 or defend 4's/big wings (though very skeptical on that since he looks to be too upright). Think most people here will like his skillset.

Day-Ron Sharpe reportedly has a promise in the 1st round and has shut down workouts. Rumor is that it might be Brooklyn at#27. Source on that is Chad Ford / Ryen Rusillo. He was a bubble 1st rounder for me, and he'd push another prospect down to #30.

What was it?

Someone asked Tony Jones about Primo and he said that he's going to need time to develop and the Jazz have such a short window that they'll probably try and take an older player that's ready to play right now. Not sure why he keeps deleting these tweets.

Most everybody we will take at #30 would need time to develop.

Because we are drafting Ayayi and the FO doesn’t want anyone to know.
