....how does enforcing palming and traveling have anything to do with race and the walls of civilization???

Check out yahoo's NBA page.

"Gone to the dogs
Jazz rookie Jimmer Fredette had an unusual costume for Halloween. '101 Dalmations'"

wonder when they will fix this?

I live on the other side of the world and I'm a little out of the loop. By the time I wake up, there's an entire day's worth of articles, tweets and posts to sift through, and of course I can't catch verbal comments on the radio or TV. So can someone else help me out with this?

I read that Raja Bell was NOT present at the discussion/vote Tuesday (perhaps Portland and Sacramento's reps as well). Has there been any radio chatter or articles/tweets that explained WHY? I'm not hating on Bell (although it seems like he had 5 days to arrange to be there or send an alternate), just curious. Was he in NY and became sick? Did he book the red-eye and it was cancelled? Were the attorneys scared he'd vote for the deal so they sent goons to lock him in his hotel room? Just curious if this has been discussed.

This is the only info I've seen/heard about that:

Apparently there was a complication with his wife's pregnancy. But it seems lame that he couldn't have sent another Jazz player in his stead.

On a similar note, has anyone talked about the Chris Duhon story? He tweeted before the meeting that he (on behalf of the Magic) was going to vote FOR the proposal, then we hear that the voting was unanimous AGAINST the proposal. Did Duhon change his mind, or did the former union cover up his dissenting vote?

Good point. I haven't heard anything about that at all, since the original word that the Magic were going to vote in favor.

Well, Rajon Rondo said in an an ESPN interview with Brousard that the Players Reps were only "Pretty Unanimous". Translation: voices of dissent were heard, but Hunter wasn't there to hold an open dialogue. He was there to issue marching orders. I'm sure the last thing agreed upon was to stand united in the press.

Hence my comparison. Working in Europe is the NBA player's equivalent of burger-flipping (China is migrant farm work).

D-Will is making approx. $5 milliion in Turkey vs. approx. $15 milliion here

The federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour so anyone here earning more than the equivalent of $21.75 per hour is doing comparatively better than that. I think that probably applies to many who are working full time in a career field.

I heard Chris Duhon changed his vote because after he came out and said that Orlando would vote for the proposal he received three calls from teammates that he had either not previously heard from or who had changed their position on the lockout. These changes tipped the scale against acceptance.

I also read somewhere that only 28 of the teams voted. I know Raja was with his wife, but I believe the others just withheld their vote because they wanted to say it was unanimous.

On another note, it sickens me to hear lawyers for the players say the NBA lockout could end today if the NBA would just call? Yea I guess it is possible the NBA could call and say we were just kidding, but since we know were going to lose in Court we will give you everything you want. That is not happening. Its joke, nonsense. Please stop saying it. Your in litigation that could easily last two to three years. Somebody has to lose a motion before they come back to the bargaining table again with any real changes to their position.

I was mad at all sides, but my anger is really now focused on the players. If the system is unfair and you need to sue I'm okay with that. What I don't like is the fact that they didn't have the guts to put this to a vote. Not a formal vote, because that was impossible, but at least an up or down vote on the main issues. I believe that some of the league's biggest stars pushed for this and most of the rank and file wanted to play. Its hard to stand up to stars like Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnet, Lebron James, etc when you are Enes Kanter. However, in the privacy of a voting booth all that pressure goes away. They didn't want to vote, because they were afraid of losing the vote. That pisses me off. I truly hope the NBA wins the litigation and imposes a much, much more stringent system and economic share than what the players just rejected.

Does it bother anyone else that in these tough economic times the Owners offer actually increased the average NBA salary. In Three years under the proposed system the average salary increased to 8 million. Everyone else is taking huge pay-cut to keep their jobs and NBA players cry over smaller pay raises. I'm beyond frustrated.
