What's new

Goodbye Booze, Hello To An Old Friend?

bringing Brewer back will never happen.

1. The Jazz already took RB's number, gave it to Larry Miller and retired it.
2. RB played half a season wearing a headband. It's like trying to bring an Amish kid back after Romspringa.
3. The Jazz have the 6'8" and no shot position pretty much covered now.
4. Pillow fort.

Seriously, If this doesn't prove that Jazz Management has no ****ing idea what they're doing...I don't know what does.

Whom did you expect for midlevel or less?

Certainly not another wing with no jump shot and with enough history on the Jazz to show what he is'nt capable of doing. They would be better off trying to re-sign Wes or Korver or both, rather than go after Brewer.
Without Okur being effective, outside shooting becomes even more important now, to get ANY offense going inside. Brewer was a beneficiary of Deron/Booz. Now Booz is not here and he will be even less of a factor. He will also be taking mins away from Hayward.

There are better options available to us for midlevel (or less since I am sure we are not going over lux tax this year and there is still Fess and Mathews to re-sign)?

tell me why? I dont understand. Why we need Brewer back? And put Wes again on the bench.

Also i dont see the 6th man in Brewer.

Ronnie is a great guy but his days in Utah are over as Boozers.

I wish both good luck.

Maybe we dump AK to Nets and replace him with Brewer?

Why not?
He's a decent player. And he ain't gonna want $5M/per. Ronnie B. would be a good backup at the 2/3. I mean if the last wing spot comes down to Brewer or Jeffers. Isn't Ronnie B. at $2M-$3M a no-brainer.
This. Brewer would be a steal for that amount if he was on the bench instead of Jeffers.

But, Matthews will probably use a big part of the MLE and little would be left. And the million-dollar exception is worth 'only' $1.7M (if Brewer's OK with that, then great).

The Jazz could still arrange a S&T with Memphis. There’s the $6.5M Harpring TPE but the Jazz should keep that intact for a different move if ever. There’s another way though: the Jazz have the $2.7M Ronnie Brewer exception!

Wouldn’t it be weird if the Jazz got Brewer back using the Brewer TPE. Hoopshype's salaries page says the Grizz are under the cap and thus won’t earn their own TPE so they’ll want something else. Not their 1st rounder back, but maybe some 2nd rounder so they save face with the trade too.

Still, I’d be very surprised if this happens. A number of other teams could sign Brewer to shore up their bench after the smoke clears with the big free agent signings.

I highly agree here. He's a great backup player and at 2-3M per, that's a great deal by today's standards.

Ever since I heard Memphis didn't give him an offer I thought this would be a good move, especially if we are going to trade away Korver or if Matthews gets too big an offer.

I like it. Brewer is the man!

hayward will not play much this year..For 1 he is not ready and for 2 sloan dont like rookies that much..Consider this a redshirt year for hayward..Brewer gets pt cuz sloan values defense and hustle..Deep down you know he is happy booz is gone

Lots of people were upset to see him go...including myself, although I understood why they made the move. Now that they can get him back cheap and still got that draft pick (potentially) in return? I'd have no problem with it, as long as it's not INSTEAD of bringing Matthews back.

What the hell are we thinking?

I thought we had a "logjam" at wing? With Hayward, this problem only gets worse as long as we resign Matthews. However, if we end up with Brewer while losing Matthews, that would be a complete and utter disaster. Think Deron isn't watching?

In fact, this offseason is looking pretty horrible. If we end up losing Korver, Matthews, and Boozer only to end up with Brewer and Hayward, I think I along with most Jazz fans will be done with this team until the management shows just a slight level of competence.

I called this last week. And I think it is brilliant. Sign him for a 1 year deal and trade him again at the deadline. Repeat this every year for 2-3 years.

Now, has anyone heard if Maynor is available?
