Jazz and Knicks discussing Donovan Mitchell trade per Shams Charania and Tony Jones

Is that offer not going to be there next year?
You think Riley gonna chill for a year? He will do something in the next 6 months.

I just think bending over backwards to get 1 more unprotected pick is wild. I think you find the best non-Knicks offers and tell NY to beat them and move on. I think there are other offers out there. If all the offers are bad then of course wait it out. I don't have delusions of building around Donovan though.

Come draft night next year maybe Donovan yields the 4th or 5th pick and you like that certainty over a grab bag of picks. That's fine I guess. I just think its silly to say "here is the price" and dig in for a year if they offer 80-90% of that price.

And can Utah kill the off-season next year around Mitchell?

I honestly have no idea and would lean towards no, but is it worth it to give up just for a role player laden package? I dont think so.

I'd rather just wait and see if you can draft Vic and use that to build hype around the franchise to lure in big name free agents and use the Rudy package to build the team around Donovan/Victor.

Plus if you draft Victor then NYK really has to show up in trade talks and cant just assume Utah will be a ****** team that he will 100% want to leave.

Miami has limited trade assets to offer. They pretty much need a player to force a trade to Miami. I'm not sure they're realistically in the market for Mitchell, if we're being honest. Feels like Gobert/Chicago.

We have no idea what they are offering.

All we are hearing is the number of picks, not the quality in terms of if they are NYK's and if they are unprotected.

Given that all the reporting is that we arent close, I'm guessing they arent offering the unprotected picks.

Six months from now, the Suns will be able to trade Ayton, Ben Simmons may prove that he can still play, and the KD/PHX/BRK avenue may open up again. That's worth waiting for.

Quite the contrary. Not many teams can or are willing to put together a better package than they can.

What if the Heat are offering 3 unprotected 1sts + 3 pick swaps + Herro + Jovic + a 4th 1st they got from a 3rd team?

Show me 3 teams besides the Knicks who could realistically put together a better package than this for Mitchell and it make sense for their team.

Lots of teams can beat this. The reason is that the Jazz want high-value draft picks, and the Heat will be drafting in the mid-20s for the next 5+ years.

After we got the boatload for Rudy, we should have rallied around Coach Hardy and Donovan Mitchell. We have plenty of good "win now" pieces in Don, Bojan, Conley, Beverley, Beasley, Vanderbilt, and Clarkson. A little tinkering here or there and we could have seen how it went. If it was an absolute failure, we could have made a bunch of moves before the deadline.

Instead, we have shaken the confidence of everybody and showed our hand that we want to tank in the highly unlikely scenario that we win the lottery or get damn close. We are also gambling that other young stars will want to come here or stay here after we just ran off our coach and two current all stars.

We will probably end up trading Donovan for picks that never go inside of the top 10. Our only hope for getting a top 4 pick is our own and losing on purpose. There is no honor in that.

Jazz will get a haul for Mitchell and tank. They just need the market to develop.

In theory, I don't mind this thought. But Ayton has a trade veto for a year. I think there's about a 0.5% chance Ayton would authorize a trade to Utah sending Donovan out in that scenario.

**** honor. Have you seen Wemby and Scoot highlights?

A load of draft assets from PHX, who will have a thin roster, be over the cap, and be banking on CP and KD staying healthy.

So we wait 6 months hoping Phoenix decides they want to give up all of their picks in a deal to us?

How does that deal even work now? Ayton/Bridges/Mitchell to Brooklyn?
