2023 NBA Draft Megathread

TIL Ben Handlogten has a kid playing for Marshall, he's a 7'1 frosh and is averaging 11 rebs per game.
Marshall 9-1 too. Actually pretty impressive considering (from what I can tell off Google) that he wasnt even ranked by any of the recruiting services.

Donovan Clingan is the next giant up though (besides Victor of course). Actually looks pretty fluid and is a freaking giant. Getting absurd stats in 15 MPG.

yeah, clingan is a monster. somewhere in between kalkbrenner and Edey. and for marshall, taevion kinsey could be an interesting 2nd round prospect. old af, but has been a good college player for a long time and having a great 5th year.

GG is looking better by the game it seems.

Brandon Miller had a rough go against Houston, but he hung in there and iced the game at the end by hitting all his FTs.

The thing that impressed me is that he takes the ball off the rim, pushes the ball hard and outruns nearly the whole Presbyterian team while handling. That's the kind of aggressiveness and confidence at 6'9" that could make him an impact player. It shows he has real confidence handling the ball.

He also covered the entire floor in 5 dribbles and gathered the ball at the top of the key before getting fouled on the finish.

I could see Edey being the next Boban. Think he's too big/bulky/lumbering to be a real difference maker in the NBA though. Clingan seems like he could be in that sweet spot of being a giant, but not being too bulky.
agreed. just not sure edey can get up and down the floor. he'd be tough to stop in the post for very short stretches and he'll rebound while he's in there, but like you say, similar to boban, maybe a 10-15 minute per game guy at the most. he'll dominate fools in the g league though.

Hot take twitter crowd is saying Noah Clowney > Brandon Miller. Thoughts?
Disagree.

Clowney is nice, but 6'9 3&D (with questionable 3) 4/5 tweeners arent as valuable as what Brandon Miller is. I'd put Taylor Hendricks over Clowney right now.

The shot looks solid but he doesn’t look to shoot as much as he could. He has a weird gait that makes me question him as an athlete a bit. Could be a gem in the late first if his stock stays where it is.
Watched some videos of him and couldnt see what you are talking about.

Great pick in the late 1st or early 2nd round if he's there. I like him more than Dillon Mitchell right now.
Still dont know what to think of Mitchell. He's been really good at what he's doing, but he isnt doing much that would make him a lottery pick unless his shot looks good in practice.

The way he runs just looks a little clunky when I watched the game. It isn't like Myles Turner in college... just not super fluid. It is 100% eye test type of thing so I very well could be wrong. Might just have a high center of gravity or something.

And its not like a major concern... just when I think of guys that put the clamps on dudes they usually have really fluid hips and lateral movement. I think he may be more a disruptor who is solid at staying with guys rather than a clamps guy.

The shot form looks really solid and I am not concerned he is staying in his role and not racking up huge numbers. I'd rather pick a guy in the late first that has a bankable skill or two and then can expand out. I think he passed up some shooting opportunities early in the game but he may be following the game plan.
