2023 NBA Draft Megathread

6'6 - 6'7 PG
And I would say PG is how you classify him but he isn't a dominate the ball guy at all... so he provides positional fluidity because of his size. The work ethic, play winning basketball stuff is huge with him too... that will smooth out a lot of weaknesses.

i would agree 100%. he is definitely a lead guard, a facilitator, a bring the ball up and run the offense type guy, but he absolutely does not dominate the ball - not one of those PGs who HAS to have the ball in his hands all the time. he just wants to make the right play and almost instinctively does make the the right basketball play.

Every time I hear draft dudes talking about Anthony Black I just want him here even more. Eff it he is top 5 for me... and really top 5 not the pretend top 5 that has 12-15 players in it.

Wemby
Scoot
Amen
Whitmore
Black

I see some Giddey, some Lonzo, some Tyrese maybe... just think between him and Lauri it gets easier to fill out the rest of the building blocks because they have some flexibility they offer. A smart player in a smart system with a smart coach

He's got a better first step than Giddey. He's probably a better on-ball defender too, but they're comparable in a lot of other ways. That type of player just has a lot of positional value. The 6'7" guard/wing who can get in lane and make plays just makes the game a lot easier offensively. There's constant pressure on all parts of the defense. I'd like to see more mid-range scoring, but maybe he can develop that.

He's got shades of some of those guys. I don't really believe in direct player comps all that much.

I wouldn't sleep on Ausar Thompson being able to play that role. He's being a bit overshadowed by Amen, but he's got the tools to be a high-impact, two-way guard.

I view him as more of a playmaker than an actual pg. I actually liken him to Scottie Barnes. A wing that can do a little bit of everything.

Who is your comp here? Haliburton or something? (haliburton is pretty tall iirc but might be wrong)
Penny hardaway? Grant hill?
I know you hate comps lol.

I like saying they have shades or parts of some guys games. The player type is Giddey/Lonzo/Haliburton. Maybe not the savant passer Giddey is but probably better shooter/defender... not as good a defender as Lonzo but likely a much better finisher... may not be as amazing as Tyrese has turned out to be but Haliburton was only like 7 pts/ 4 assists / 4 rebounds his Freshmen year. Blacks total numbers won't blow anyone away... 12.6/4/5 but there is some reason to believe he could be in the Tyrese mold.

Again... the skills and size are great... its feel/winning play/work ethic that kinda push me over the edge. I think he's the type of player that could end up being an all-star or a star in their role that allows other stars to shine brighter.

Penny and Grant had like all-time talent... ain't gonna throw Black that group.. doesn't have that kinda athleticism.

Thanks for the response man.

If the Jazz can't get a pick in the top 10, I think Jett Howard could possibly work as a saucy, 6'7" wing who can score and playmake. Ideally, the Jazz would get one of the top 8 guys, but it looks like they're too good to get there.

Jarace Walker hasn't really found his role at Houston and hasn't been consistent, but his high school tape still makes him look like an intriguing prospect. If the Jazz can't get in the top 10, I'm guessing they'll take a hard look at Walker. He's up to 240 lbs now at 6'8", which makes his physical profile closer to a Paul Millsap than an OG Anunoby. I like Jett Howard and I think he'll have a positive impact, but he might be more of a Tyler Herro-level player, while Jarace Walker might have some fringe All Star potential.

i'd guess it's plus at least 3 or 4 inches. i would agree that his arms don't look long, but he gets on top of the rim with such ease i would be surprised if it were even or plus 1.
I'd be surprised. He is like 6'7"-6'8" so should be able to get on top of the rim. Wonder if he will get measured or if his stock will be high enough that he passes on that stuff.

i also, don't think he's 6'7-6'8. if i had to put money on it, i'd say 6'5 or so without shoes and just over 6'6 in shoes. i know he's listed at 6'7", but i'm just not seeing it. will be interesting to see on both counts.
