Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Much better way to put it. And for the record, I dont think your opinion is idiotic.. but the way you presented it was.

I havent really entertained the idea of DJM so I'm not into buyng unless its a best buy 50% discount thing and we can just showcase and flip him.

I do like Collins. But I'm also aware I might be wrong about him. Wouldnt be the first mistake I ever made.
My main problem with Murray is that he's a bad shooter. Seeing as we've probably going to be starting a guy in the middle who simply won't/can't shoot, the other four simply have to be able to space the floor.

When you add Collins who also isn't that good of a good shooter... I don't like that lineup. It smells like corner duty for Lauri once again, and we don't want that.

Jazz were rumored to be interested in John Collins last summer. First, it was a Rudy Gobert rumor, then it was a Bojan rumor. The Jazz must have some level of interest in Collins.

If the market is frozen there's an advantage to being a team that is willing to move most it's players. I don't care if we get players that fit badly. It was a three year plan anyway. Just add value and get the players that have value and that you've had an eye on which sounds like Collins. I trust Ainge just let Ainge, Ainge around.

As I said.. Murray is not a building block in my mind. Havent focused on him as I'm more interested in a PG who can feed the versatility of Lauri.

My pipe dream is Lauri, Collins and Tyrese (the best lob passer Ive seen in a while) as the three 20 point guys. Just gotta find another Tyrese.

I also think Collins shooting will come around after he gets out of that circus and can focus on basketball again.

Jazz are in an awful lot of rumors, probably more than any other team in the league. Beasley, Vanderbilt, Olynyk, Clarkson, even Sexton being mentioned.
I’m sure whatever team Ainge is GM for allows a higher deal of credibility to spread on any kind of trade rumor.

Watching Collins right now… his defense is legit solid… I don’t see him improving a ton on offense… I think he’s just limited there. He does look kinda checked out.

Yeah, but with the way Collins value seems to have been overstated, DA is going to end up trading Olynyk and THT for Collins and a ‘23 pick swap on the Brooklyn/Philly pick. . .

. . . #Believe.

I do not see this front office ever value Collins enough to give up anyone good.

A healthy Olynyk would actually be a great asset on the Hawks. He passes the damn ball.

Some of these eastern teams are poorly managed and coached ,and thats why Ainge keeps trading with them. A player that looks ok to bad on these teams end up being way better when traded to the Jazz. smart moves.

I mean really from day one they should have been trying to win.......... with the young guys. Ochai, NAW, Sexton, Kessler (especially him), THT, Vando, Lauri, Beasley, etc should have been getting the lions share of minutes and Conley and KO should have been getting 20 minutes or less (starting or coming off the bench, whatever) and Gay should have never played a single minute. If the team wins a ton like that then so be it. Thats great!. If they lose a few games more than they would have then that is also great. Should be looking to trade KO/Conley/Gay for sure since the start of season and continuing up until today (my guess is ainge has been working to move those 3 from day one and still is).
Clarkson is the one old dude that you probably should start and play big minutes since he has a lot left in the tank and the jazz seem to love him and want to re-sign him.

I dont blame Hardy too much though. Its gotta be really hard for a rookie head coach to go up to guys like Conley and KO and tell them that we are putting you out to pasture and just gonna give you token minutes. Plus if you want to trade them then you kind of need to showcase them a bit.

For me the biggest mistakes Hardy has made in minute distribution and rotations is that Ochai wasn't playing at all for the first 39 games and that kessler should have been getting more minutes for such a long time now and that Gay really should have never been getting minutes. That might have been hard for Hardy too though so i kind of give him a break. Should have bought out gay or cut him or whatever. Ochai and kessler are my two biggest complaints.

Overall i think Hardy has done a really good job and im very very happy that we hired him as our coach. I love his personality and demeanor too and his sarcasm and jokes in the post game interviews are pretty good.

I understand why you think this but snubbing vets is hard to justify to casual fans (majority), to Silver (who said he will be watching "tanking moves" extra carefully) and most of all to the players.. unless the young guys are better players.

Second thing is coaches dont tank. They try to put the best possible team out there.. and our early season suggested he did just that. Even though we might now increase youth minutes Hardy will still coach them to win every night. And thats the mentality and mindset we want from him.

Also.. this is speculation... but if Conley doesnt play with Markkanen as much as he does.. is he still gonna grow the way he did?

I'm very happy with this season.

We traded away two great players and might have gotten equal potential back just in Lauri and Kessler.. plus 9 extra picks (I count Beasley and Vando as picks at this point), 3 swaps, Ochai and Sexton.

Good post. I dont disagree. Like I said in my post, its very difficult for a coach to do what I would have wanted. My two main complaints were ZERO playing time for Ochai and Kessler not playing enough. I think he could have thrown some minutes to Ochai and played kessler a bit more.

Good discussion. I think its easy to want more minutes for rookies but sometimes, at least initially, it may not be the best idea. For example Kessler fouls a lot and he gets himself into foul trouble, giving him a lot of minutes right out the gate wouldn't have been wise, in my opinion. I think he and Ochai are coming along well and at the right pace.

Collins brand has proven to be a case of planned obsolescence, that came back to bite the team that paid him. They cannot get off his deal without adding good value picks or players and even if they don't admit it, they know damn well its true. I suspect the only interest knowing Danny Ainge, was to take advantage of that fact and flip him to yet a 3rd or 4th team who has blinders on, imagining he can return to his former ways, netting Danny the draft picks while not having to suffer the baggage of a has been payed like a starter on a contender.

Yeah, remember that that Ochai and Kessler don't yet have NBA bodies. Kessler looked like he was going to puke after the first quarter last night. Playing like both play for big minutes in 82 games (as opposed to the 30 or so just twice a week in college) would have worn them down pretty hard. I'd prefer to teach them for the first half, then turn them loose for the second half. It worked out getting more value for the other player as well.
