What's new

Game 2: The Redemption: Utah Jazz @ Denver Nuggets (12/28/11, 7pm MST)

I actually really liked our effort at times and especially the way we would collapse on D. We seemed to be playing too hard for the most part. playing too aggressive on D.

I watched a different game, apparently.

One quick thing on last nights game going into this game, Burks didn't play but about 5min and looked like a rookie but when Kobe came back in he looked like a scared rookie. I'm wondering how much time he'll get tonight in a homecoming game of sorts for him and if he does get more minutes I wonder how he'll look, I know he'll still look like a rookie but hopefully an aggressive rookie making aggressive mistakes not scared mistakes.

The tired Lakers out ran us last night. Denver is the fastest team in the league(other than Miami). Were going to get run over. Jazz need to show a little nasty.

Did you watch the game? Jefferson only played 25 minutes.

Personally I felt he played a good 1st half, just his shots didn't fall. I felt he was giving good effort on D.

Then the 2nd half happened, and his shots still weren't falling. He started to give poor body language and less effort. He got benched in the 3rd and didn't come back.

I agree with playing Howard more though. He was seemed like our most aggressive wing player.

I missed the 1st quarter because of TNT. But I watched the rest of the game. I wasn't charting Jefferson's every possession. But I did see him getting beat down the floor multiple times by laker bigs on fast breaks.

Watch the whole play. After he got his **** stuffed (not a problem, as at least he tried to attack the rim), Favors scrambled to try to grab the offensive board. The Lakers secured it, and started running. Al jogged back, getting beat down court easily by McRoberts despite having a head start on him. This forced Hayward to help on McRoberts, leaving Artest open. Favors, having somehow beaten Al back on D, scrambled to get out on Artest, who pump faked and drove to the hole. Al secured poor position trying to box out Gasol, paying absolutely no attention to what was going on around him, forcing Hayward to try to help late. The dunk ensued.

This play was no surprise. Al is terrible running the floor and helping his teammates. His on-court awareness is ridiculously bad. His offensive performance (highly overrated on this board) doesn't come close to making up for these constant mistakes.

This play made me yell at the TV. Big Al needed to hustle back and take McRoberts so Favors could take Gasol.

This worries me a lot. The team's collective psyche is weak right now. We need at least a moral victory so the weakminded players will put in the effort.

We're gonna get murdered tonight. But hopefully more of their shots fall and they leave feeling better about themselves after last night.

Funny to me that both Portland. and Denver have played better team basketball minus their superstars. Both scare me a lot more now.

This smells like a loss unless Denver comes out really flat.

We should get rid of our superstars.
Maybe then we would play some team basketball.

I'd love for the Jazz to contract Stockton and Malone to come in and teach the Jazz some physical, nasty basketball this whole year.

This is good! Our expectations are low...which means they'll win tonight. I feel like when we get too hyped up for a game, they tend to let us down with an ugly loss.

What a boring game thread. Let's see what Denver East thinks.

Corbin needs to have the ********* to bench players when they are giving a half-bottomed effort. He should have sat A. Jefferson as an example. Corbin can vicariously set the example by sticking to his word that those who give effort and work will play.

Jefferson only played 25 minutes , nearly the same Kanter played (21).

The whole play, from Al's missed dunk to the Artest dunk, are in the NBA.com game highlights, starting at about 0:55. It's these plays that make me dislike Al the most. I'd have been upset with his play even if 6 more of his shots fell.
