Following potential 2012 draftees

This is kind of a sudden reaction, but I think now it is even more clear we need Barnes or Miller. Gilchrist is cute and stuff with his can do attitude, and high effort defense, but we need some offense.

I agree we have enough players already who cant hit a jumper..Gilchrist is more useful on a team that has a bunch of scorers but cant guard anyone like the Kings

Day 1 - I want to see MKG in a Jazz uniform but I am starting to worry that he will shine in the NBA combine and move up so we can't pick him. Can we start a rumor saying he has a bad knee or something so his stock will drop and the Jazz can pick him. I was just joking and would never want any harm to come to MKG.

You missed the game last night, huh? I kid .. sorta.

I think Damian Lillard from Weber State is an intriguing prospect. Only a junior, but he's 6'3, 190 pretty athletic and a really good shooter. Maybe some of the local Utahns could tell us more about him.

Another #3, maybe?

I think it's more of a possibility than some might like to admit. People will say "it was just one game" yada yada yada..."we have a great mix of vets and youth" bla bla bla. The point is that our vets just don't mesh in my mind. Harris/Jefferson seems like a pretty good combo on paper, but their playing styles just don't click, imo. I also think a lot of people underestimated the impact the lockout would have on a rebuilding team like the Jazz. There was simply no time to build chemistry, we looked like a circus last night and that's what should have been expected.

If we do get another #3, the Barnes vs Gilchrist debates could be very fun, though.

I see the Jazz getting a top 5 pick from their own effort. In the lottery system we might just swing another top 3 pick. The debates would be great.

They really would be.

On another note, Kendall Marshall is looking more and more appealing to me. After watching Harris' inability to distribute and run the show, it further proved to me that we need a pass first point guard, even if he doesn't score a ton. We need a Rondo-ish PG as opposed to a Rose-ish PG, imo.

Oh Lord, I see your point there, but it seemed you were making a Rondo / Marshall comparison, lol. Bout puked a little.

Update of the TOSU lottery prospects from tonight's game

I would respond, but I'm just becoming a broken record when it comes to Marshall. I just can't do it anymore.

Lol you know what I mean. In the future, I think we'll have plenty of scoring options with Favors, Kanter, Burks, Hayward, our lottery pick (Barnes or Gilli?), and maybe even Millsap, we just need someone to utilize all those options, and drafting Marshall seems like our best chance at getting someone like that. I'm not 100% on the Marshall bandwagon, especially since there's a good chance that there will be someone with more talent available wherever we pick, but he could potentially be a perfect fit for us.

Yea I did. I said in an earlier post that I need to start watching more Kentucky basketball. Every player has bad games. I think the kid is worthy of a lottery pick. He is better than CJ will every be.

Can I get a run down of the top 5 picks? Those are the names that all Jazz fans need to become familiar with.

Andre Drummond and Anthony Davis are the top two. After that it's a little less set in stone, but Harrison Barnes and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist are both probably top 5, as well.

I don't know about the top 5, but a handful of what I who I would say has emerged to the top in the first 1/3 of the season; (I'll give narratives and stats tonight after a party I gotta attend in a few minutes)

- Andre Drummond
- Anthony Davis
- Harrison Barnes
- Kidd-Gilchrist
- Jared Sullinger
- Jeremy Lamb

I'd rather us not get Davis. He doesn't look like a sure thing as a pro. Drummond isn't either I guess, but his body makes him a sure contributor. I would take Barnes over any SF just because I feel he is the best offensive one of the group, and is also a pretty good defender.

Gilchrist is good, I just don't see him scoring well without an elite PG ala Shawn Marion.
