Plus, Wood, Kyrie and McGee all missed huge free throws in the last 2 minutes of regulation that would’ve won the game outright. Just terrible, terrible basketball.

The Mavericks is in an extremely rough spot going forward. They are going to keep their pick this year it looks like. That means their pick they owe the Knicks will be top-10 protected in 2024 again. That means they can’t trade their 2025 1st or their 2028 1st since they traded their 2029 1st to the Nets. They effectively can only trade their 2027 1st and whatever pick they end up with this year to try and improve their team. Yikes.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Going all out and winning those 3 games against Orlando, Sacramento and Boston hurt the Jazz pick so much. If they would’ve dropped those 3 games, they’d be sitting at 33-45 and tied for 5th place instead of 9th with Dallas in a free fall right behind them.
